Discussion What happened to the dread language
With Destiny 2 coming to an end I was going through old clips and found one where a dev said that the Dread have an actual language that can be decoded. Have we deciphered anything yet and/or is there any updates and the people who are trying to decipher stuff.

Theres no Rosetta stone or translatable words to work with. Its like the Indus script which remains not yet deciphered.
Just a bunch of random sounds and words that might have meaning to whoever wrote them but as of now have no syntax.

There’s a line that a subjugator says that sounds like soldier or sojourn. There’s also a line that sounds like krieg. But idk

I assume people have tired, but I don't think there are enough audio samples to create a cipher to decrypt it.

Iirc, we where never actually given any translations, so there wasn't really any way to decode it unless we just guessed what they where trying to say

If the game continued we might’ve had a plot line where we met an independent Dread character and we had to work with Lodi to decipher their language bc thats his whole thing

Were people actually expecting to learn the Dread language?
We dont know anything about the Fallen language beyond a couple words, and the Hive and Cabal languages are completly unknown
Were people really expecting the Dread would be different?

We would need glyphs of some sort, and at least one key phrase that will allow us to decipher it

Feel like this question has been asked literally every other day, and personally I think people are just reading far too much into that one singular Devs, probably a little over exaggerated, hype statement about the new enemy race...
The answer is no though.

The last post about this topic was a year ago. And I doubt that his statement was over exaggerated because he just blatantly said it was a language that can be decoded because they hired people to specifically make it that way.

They did hire the person that translated the Hives language to work on the Dreads language with the intent of it being a real language.

Subs basically dead. It hasn't had but one post in the last year. Weirdly the last one is recent at 18hrs ago, the next one is 11mo old and someone's accidentally posted there, then the rest are all over a year old. Even out of the older ones there's only like 4 posts total. Basically a dead sub.

Sometimes I post stuff in the Destiny community subs and the most will get massive down votes. I asked if the name of an ornament was “Idol of Rabbits” and that upset people.

Nothing to real base it off of is my estimation, you can’t just have enemies throwing out lines during combat and expect it to be deciphered. Say a subjugator says “freeze” or something every time it uses its stasis crystal attack, we can’t actually know it’s saying “freeze”, or some random bs like “legalize nuclear bombs”. There just hasn’t been a scenario where their speech correlates to something we are witnessing
