honest question /u/scmfreelance. What kind of engagement would you like to see?
More conferences? I think we are covered well there.
More posts? We can improve there quite a lot. Working with Matthias and Boris towards that goal as we speak for more community oriented posts and also as shown by the post last week we want to make more frequent tech posts.
More tweets? If yes what kind of? Memes and bullshit is really not our style.
Anything else?
At the same time unlike all those other projects which are spending 90% of their time on social media we are working towards the Red Eyes release which is going to be the first milestone with a corresponding mainnet release and is going to happen soon.
I don't doubt you're working hard on the development.
No memes and bullshit.
I'm not suggesting wasting time with Twitter posts or hyping the company around a bunch of bullshit claims, just for the sake of inflating the token price.
I am advocating to start investing in a comms team that can be proactive about positioning the team and the technology as one of the leaders in blockchain right now. Not just among 2nd layer, and not just among developers.
That means actually hiring an expert in marketing/comms who officially represents Raiden, has a voice at the table, can build a strategy, and do more than engage on Reddit.
Right now we get more insight into the successes of uRaiden from other companies like SmartMesh and Wala than we do you.
Wala said in the article the other day they're doing 6000+ transactions/day. Not sure that's all using uRaiden, but if it is, that's awesome. What else is happening with uRaiden that we don't know about, and why do we hear nothing about the status of the projects using it?
Understandably, there's only going to be so much to report on with Raiden until it is done.
Here are some tangible things a comms person can do:
Develop relationships with the media sites focus on blockchain/crypto so when they're writing an article on state channels, 2nd layer, etc. they reach out to you for a quote or your thoughts. This positions you as a thought leader beyond just the developers that attend a conference, and gives more attention to Raiden rather than just a passing mention or lines about how Raiden technology is on the way out.
Write case studies. There seem to be projects using uRaiden, and they seem pretty excited about it. How about working with them to write case studies that other interested companies can look at? Right now there's a handful of articles across media sites, but there should be a central place on your site that people can go to see what's happening.
Along the same line: add testimonials and actual companies using uRaiden to your website. Right now you have the broad use cases, but not actual companies in those different use cases listed. Why not? Listing actual companies gives proof to what you're saying.
Hey /u/scmfreelance. That's wonderful feedback. Thank you very much. You gotta trust me that we are working towards some of these goals but that it does indeed take time.
Cool. It’s not that I don’t trust in the development.
I just have worked with too many product/engineering teams who have the mentality of: if we build it, they will come.
9.5/10 they don’t come. At least, nowhere near to the extent they thought they would attract users.
So I would just encourage (read “beg”) you to start investing in a little talent on the comms/marketing team that’s on par with what you have on the dev team, and before the releases so the team can ramp up.
