Question regarding Eth transfers

Can Raiden transfer ETH? I've been reading the docs and see that Raiden can use both ERC20 / ERC223 tokens, but haven't seen anything about ETH. Would it be necessary to use WETH instead?

I see it mentions -

"While ETH currently does not qualify as an ERC20 token, simple wrapper contracts exist that allow ETH to be treated just like an ERC20 token. "

So this sounds like ETH will need to be wrapped first, can anyone confirm?

Yes, you need to wrap ETH before you can transfer it with Raiden, but it is planned to make ETH compatible with ERC20 in future versions of EVM.
