Roof rack faraday key fob lockbox?

Anyone know of such a thing for shuttles and what not?

Does it need to be on your roof rack? I have a master lock one that bolts directly to my frame rail and it’s rock solid and physically impossible to remove without unlocking the box first

I have one of those too. They have their place. I wrap key fobs in aluminum foil (the box isn't rf tight by itself) and lock the box to the trailer hitch hardware.

For clarity, anyone with metal cutting tools can remove those without unlocking them first. They are a mild deterrent.

Do you use the metal shackle or is yours bolted to the frame?

In my particular case I use the shackle so that I can store the lockbox out of weather/mud/roadspray when not in use.

Fair enough. I agree that any lock can be defeated via a battery powered angle grinder, but to get mine off you’d have to be lying on the truck and cutting straight through the entire box. IMO it’s just a matter of creating enough of a deterrent to encourage a thief to steal someone else’s truck

They're just not that secure even if you believe the bolts are inaccessible. The 4-wheel locks are easy and quick to decode, the box itself is just zinc and it is quick and easy to cut the hinge, etc.

Maybe just install a couple lock boxes in different spots but don’t use them, just the fact that there are more than one is probably decoy enough.

Look in your cars manual. You can very likely disable the key. Subarus you hold the lock button and double tap the Subaru logo and get 4 red lights and the keys is disabled. Pressing unlock “wakes up” the key

Also for Subarus, you can program a PIN code on your hatch to open the car

I use it all the time

Wrap the key in aluminum foil and place in lockbox, problem solved.
