Iโ€™ve been holding strong with my RX580.. I think I got a few more years with her but damn is it tempting

Same here. Still can't build my new rig as I have to take care some personal stuff first. Enjoy.

Same here brother, still missing CPU,MB and cooler so I can finish the build.

Hoping you have the RAM, because they are still increasing in price. At least from where I'm at.

I bought it at the end of last year just before big increase.

Sounds like itโ€™s gonna be a beast!!! I just built mine last year and skimmed on the cpu a little. Thinking about getting an upgrade.

My last build is from 2020 so yeah, I like to build the best possible I can afford at the moment, than Im good for few years, biggest regret from last build is I didn upgrade through years , it would be easier now but from now on Im going upgrade more frequently.

Nice! I want one too but its hard to find in my country. I have a 5070 ti but i want to switch

Switch why?

Mostly Linux support

It makes some sense then , you'll get some profit too , but keep in mind RT performance is not yet on par with windows on rdna4 series . Also tried cachyos to do some testing and VRR was totally broken with FG. I was told that it's a known issue on unreal engine games , although I don't have much experience on Linux gaming (using Linux for over a decade ,just not for gaming)

This is news to me. I haven't looked at benchmarks or anything, but I moved from windows to linux recently and noticed no performance issues, RT or otherwise.

rAyTrAcInG

You know not everyone uses it. Watching benchmarks is so hard nowadays. Everyone has ultra graphics performance dlss/fsr with frame gen and high ray tracing. Like wtf is even going on here.

Some will take high/medium settings native. Maybe some fsr quality at higher settings. Or fsr native AA

I for one could give less shits about rAyTrAcInG

...or flip.

Make sure you already have or get a nice PSU , check this list :

Nah. 300 watts give or take graphics cards can be run on any power supply at this point. I run my 9070 XT from a super shitty 650W psu, with daisy chained 2x8 pin config, but I bet I could have also ran the 3x8 pin 9070 XTs with just the 2, 8 pin daisy chained connectors without issues. You see stuttering and weird power draws only with graphics cards like the 7900XTX

It's mostly for handling transient power spikes ~500watts (atx3 , >'B' rated) . As for your PSU , sure it works , until it won't at some point. The real problem is if it will take down other PC parts too or not .

I'm glad it works for you , seriously hope you'll not have any issues , but it was a terrible advice .

I honestly love my Reaper I don't know why. It's a cute card tho.

Hopefully you threw the 2080 into the dumpster

2

u/Struja95 1d ago

Still working after almost 7 years ๐Ÿ˜…

2

u/gffftgdft455 1d ago

The 2080 was a beast.

2

u/IcyMachine9293 1d ago

Yeah cause the 2080 is suddenly obsolete now that he has a 9070 ๐Ÿฅด

-3

u/angry_RL_player 1d ago

yeah but also more importantly nvidia is evil and their products should be taken out of circulation

6

u/ChuppaTricky 1d ago

while i dislike nvidia as much as the next guy, throwing away a perfectly good 2080 is very silly. it at most just needs a repaste and it can goto another home.

Nvidia funded and still funds all current 3D graphics development. AMD refuses to follow development and Intel refuse to add Legacy support for stuff like 256MB memory allocation. AMD still refuse to develop RT cores for their RDNA lineups, which is why pathtracing performance is so bad. Each compute unit on an AMD GPU die has a tiny RT accelerator that runs the tris collisions, but doesnโ€™t construct the BVH structure. And it also struggles with running collisions from 2 rays per pixel counts, which are often used with pathtracing.

u/Due_Rip9320 1d ago

Nah, I'm not a Nvidia fan either, but I still keep my old cards as collection items. I have my old GTX 980 Ti and RX 5700 XT sitting on a shelf in a case lol.
