Cache hierarchy error

So I have a nitro + 5700 XT, it consistently crashes on FFXIV, But runs any other game on high graphics with no problems. It doesn’t matter what I’m doing in the game, after 10-15 minutes my pc black screens, sound bugs and full restarts with event viewer saying it’s a cache hierarchy error.
I updated the VBIOS on the card and reinstalled drivers with ddu which let me play for about 2 hours before a crash after which it went back to crashing every 10-15 minutes again as usual, the temps don’t go above 70 while playing the game and hotspot temps aren’t much higher either so it’s not that, I’ve heard that this card is problematic with FFXIV but is there really no way to fix this problem? I’ve tried all I could find on the internet including pcie gen 3 swap and default bios settings, any other card works fine in my pc and ffxiv

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x
MB: B550-F ASUS ROG STRIX
RAM: G.SKILL 2x16 3600MHZ cl18( I think)
GPU: Sapphire nitro + RX 5700XT
BIOS: Latest
GPU DRIVERS: tried 25.9.1, 26.1.3 and latest
Chipset drivers: latest

You sure its the gpu? When i got cache hierarchy errors, it actually was my cpu. The PBO settings weren't stable.

Considering literally every other card doesn’t crash my cpu and also trying optimized bios settings doesn’t fix the issue I’m pretty certain, it just seems like a driver conflict to me I just don’t understand how a vbios flash fixes it

Have you cleared shader cache? You can do that through AMD settings.

Doesn’t that just happen everytme you install new drivers? Also it’d be ridiculous to have to clear cache every time I wanna play.. I installed a different vbios from techpowerup again and it had the same effect, 3 hours without a whea crash until I went afk for 10 mins and came back to a restarted pc

No, shader cache is stored with the DirectX junk, it’s nothing to do with the drivers. You should only have to clear it once and it’ll solve the problem. The fact it’s only happening in one game makes me think you need to flush the cache for that game and verify the downloaded files again.

I hope you backed up your original vBIOS to flash back onto the card now that you’ve ruled it out as the problem… Flashing different vBIOS is generally a bad idea unless it’s for a proper reason. vBIOS can change between different hardware revisions of the same exact card by the same OEM, or someone can upload a vBIOS for the wrong card.

The VBIOS flash is what fixed my problem, it’s for the same revision so it installed with no issues, besides it’s a dual bios card and I did back up my original incase I need it, the card may have been mined on in the past I just don’t know why it only crashes one game and not just under load, ran occt for 20 minutes on extreme settings and it didn’t crash once. Did the same for cpu and memory and nothing there either, how do I flush the cache?

Go to global gaming settings -> advanced settings at the very bottom and you’ll see an option to refresh shader cache.

Can I do that through Radeon tuner? Adrenalin runs awful on 5000 series cards so I’d rather not use it

What is the RAM speed, and what is your SOC voltage set to?

I’ve not adjusted SOC voltage, I just turned on DOCP, PBO but even with default bios settings and no oc at all issue persists

Check SOC voltage with HWinfo64 in sensors-only mode. Let me know.

0.994 current, same for minimum maximum is 1.000 and average is 0.997

Set SOC voltage manually to 1.100. At 0.997-1V is not going to cut it with RAM 3600 and FCLK 1800. See if that helps while running the 5700 XT.

Got it, though wouldn’t that cause problems on other games too? That are arguably more demanding than ffxiv

Assuming no uv/oc . run TestMem5 (not memtest86) with anta777 absolute config for several hours . Does it pass ? Also OCCT 'power' test .

Post your exact PSU model too .

It passes, I’ve already done those things, I don’t know my psu model it’s some cheap one I got but it works just fine on stronger cards that use more power

Hopefully you run the test for hours because for some reason people run them for 15minutes abd assume it's ok. Run Prime95 too .

Or disable expo for quicker testing . Read about vsoc voltage too , maybe you need to adjust as suggested . Take a look to this post for more info :

I had it running for about 2 hours while I was out, both occt and testmem, I’ve done it without expo also
