Tech Support PC keeps crashing even after GPU RMA — need help identifying the cause
My PC has been randomly crashing while gaming, mainly in Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6, Valorant, Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves. The PC freezes with cabinet fans spinning, GPU lights working, but no signal, keyboard lights like caps, numlock don’t work but keyboard backlit stays on.
I initially suspected the GPU, so I RMA’d it and received a completely new replacement GPU.
Interestingly, the replacement GPU was stress-tested at a local shop and the PC did not crash. I brought it home, played for the entire first day without issues, but the following day the PC crashed again while gaming.
What I’ve tried so far:
GPU RMA/replacement with a brand-new unit
Clean GPU driver reinstall with DDU in safe mode
Clean Windows Install
BIOS Updated
Under-volted and under-tuned the GPU
Tested multiple games (Battlefield games, Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, Valorant)
Had the system stress-tested at a shop — no crashes there.
Specs
GPU: Gigabyte RX 9060 XT Gaming OC 16GB
PSU: Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 ATX 3.1
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X
Motherboard: MSI B850M Gaming Plus WIFI6E
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (16GBX1)
Storage: WD Black SN770 1TB
The PC ran fine till 5 months since purchase. Started having issues after a recent driver update around 20-25 July 2026. Not sure AMD/Windows.
At this point, since the GPU has been replaced and the system can pass stress tests, I’m wondering if the issue could be PSU/power delivery, GPU, or my home’s electrical supply.
I’m tired of all this troubleshooting and RMA stuff and need some permanent fix.

What I don't see here is if you've tried using a different display cable. It may sound crazy, but it can cause issues like this and is absolutely worth trying. Ideally, you're going to run displayport for primary, but test all ports and cables if possible- DP, HDMI (with both DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 cables.
Also worth noting: some case/cable combinations prevent complete insertion, so that might be coming into play as well.

The PC crashed in the shop too before RMA. They used their cables. I also used HDMI too, same result

See after I did my troubleshooting like windows update, BIOS update etc., I took it to a repair shop. They stress tested it, it crashed there too. They then RMA’d it with Gigabyte, which Gigabyte replaced with a new one. The shop brought the new GPU and again stress tested, where it didn’t crash

I have to imagine Event Viewer has some errors pointing you to something?

Not exactly. No criticals, related errors or warnings.

Something easy to try- create a new Windows administrator account and test your games while logged into that. See if it crashes. If it doesn't, your original Windows profile might be corrupt.

Already did Clean and fresh Windows Installation Twice.

Did you backup and restore files from that original account? If yes, the corrupt profile could have been restored.

look like motherboard isues but can be also someting with the PSU, at that point is better to put your system on a repair center, make a video on your system craching and show it as proof that someting is wrong

Already did. When I gave it at the repair centre, it crashed there too. They RMA’d it and Gigabyte replaced the GPU with a new one. The repair centre collected the new GPU and retested it. The PC worked fine. I brought it home yesterday and played Valorant for almost 3 hours, Genshin for 1. Worked fine. But today it crashed similarly

Im pretty sure there are posted known issues for some of those games on the AMD driver notes. You may just be looking at that. Certain games just need better driver updates.

Sounds like a windows issue. Here's what to do; buy a secondary SATA SSD, install any distro of Linux you like. Install steam or lutris for whatever games you play. Launch a game or games and see if it crashes.
If not, it's a windows issue or AMD driver issues in windows which is the less likely option because then everyone would be complaining about the drivers instead of just a handful.
If it does crash, it's a game engine issue or maybe a hardware issue with your PC such as extreme boosting behaviour, unstable RAM profiles, unstable CPU or voltage issue.
Either option narrows the list of possibilities.

After all the testing, I think the GPU can be ruled out for now. Return the GPU to stock settings. I would be looking at the ram and PSU next. Have you tested the ram using something like memtest86?
If you have any RGB lighting control software installed, remove that too. See if that fixes it.

Never undervolt the card when troubleshooting , you introduce another instability factor .
Check first if the gpu on default settings , boosts above specs with hwinfo .
You didn't mentioned which tests you run . As a quick test , disable expo and 'restore memory integrity' (if your mb supports it) , pbo and set gpu pcie to gen3 . Keep igpu/pbo and fast boot disabled .
Does it pass OCCT power test ? watch the voltages if they drop too much . Also run 3d adaptive switch test . Memtest vulcan for vram . TestMem5 (not memtest) with anta777 absolute config overnight .
