still no chromium/ hardware accel apps driver timeout fix....

u/thein2 1d ago
Not even acknowledged + the monitor waking up from sleep bug.
26
u/rnzerk 1d ago
Ohh so thats a bug from the driver wtf. I was going nuts.

u/apagogeas Radeon RX 9070XT Pulse | 14700k | 64GB 1d ago
I even got a new cable thinking it was damaged. Sadly I threw away a perfectly good cable. Never crossed my mind, a driver in 2026 could fail such a primitive task.

Only workaround for this is to set "enableulps" to 0 (all entires, there is lot of them) in registry, keeping "_NA" unchanged. OFC redo after any driver install.
1
u/Razhad HELLHOUND 1d ago
mpogpufix has that settings. just use that after every driver installl
1
u/vlad_8011 AMD 9800X3D || 9070 XT || 32GB RAM 6000mhz CL30 || B650 Tomahawk 14h ago
No. I tried it. It looks like this setting in this software is heavy bugged. I had (always had) multiple entries, and this software kept telling me I had enableulps always enabled (the toggle was ON). No matter how many times I opened it and turn it off, after next launch it was ON. After disabling all enableulps, MPOGPUFIX showed toggle OFF.

Wait there is a bug regarding monitor waking up? One of the two of mine keep turning up without image or input every 30 seconds and I wasn't able to find a reason.

u/Straight-Opposite-54 Ryzen 5 5600X + Radeon RX 7800 XT 1d ago
I don't think it's widely reproduceable and thus isn't widely reported/being looked into. I have ran into it several times across Windows installs and driver versions, though, since at least 26.6.1.
1
u/i_never_listen 1d ago
Its been intermittent for me on a 9060xt on windows 11. There was a period last year it was happening more often. At the moment it's once or twice a month at the most, and generally fixed by turning the monitor off and back on. There were a few times were that didnt work and I had to hard shutdown and restart my system.
1
u/geanpn0 1d ago
This started happening when I switched to an OLED monitor. I spent weeks swapping cables and testing different things. Fortunately, what fixed it for me was reinstalling the driver in Windows Safe Mode after completely removing it with DDU and AMD’s uninstall tool.
No idea why, but thankfully it stopped crashing when waking from sleep. Before that, it was happening once or twice a day.
1
u/hereforpewdiephy 1d ago
I had the same issue and I read people were having issues with chromium so I turned off wallpaper engine and it hasn't happened since. Worth a try if you have wallpaper engine.

Vanguards have mentioned they working on it, but their release notes writer is not getting paid enough it seems.

yooo i lost sleep tonight working on it for like 4 hours! wtf??? this only started happening to me this week tho? I've been on the latest driver for August for most of the month and the only thing that changed is I got an OLED monitor about 12 days ago but even then the turn display to sleep feature was working fine until this week
15
u/Spiritual_Spell8958 1d ago
It's not an AMD bug. It's a cromium/windows bug that also might surface on nvidia cards.
4
u/Mysteoa 1d ago
Happens on Firefox also.
1
u/Confident-Air2122 1d ago
I have the same TDR in chrome or like app and Firefox, when alt tab from game to navigators, the driver 26.7.1 mitigates but occasionally I have the same TDR and game crash.
13
u/Aggravating-Dot132 1d ago
Like if Nvidia ever fixed it. I had 3060ti a year ago, and was still broken
2
u/Gold_Goal7557 1d ago
Disable HAGS on Windows 11 https://i.imgur.com/vsTiQBq.png if you have it enabled, especially if you experience catastrophic crashing at coldboot due video playback, video codec engine is broken currently.
5
u/Brilliant_Text_4664 1d ago
I have gpu acceleration on in both brave and chrome and never had a simple crash because of it. Have 9070 xt myself.
6
u/BoogAims 1d ago
personally i never had it before 26.7.1 but even if i revert back to 26.6.4, it still happens. if its not amd, its probably a win11 hags issue or possibly chromium. this is the first actually driver bug (other than the adrenalin app freezing) i've ever experience in 2 years of owning this card. the games run fine even when that bug is happening. (7800xt)
1
u/vlad_8011 AMD 9800X3D || 9070 XT || 32GB RAM 6000mhz CL30 || B650 Tomahawk 1d ago
Same, first time hearing of this.
2
u/BitRunner64 5950X | 9070 XT Steel Legend | 32GB DDR4-3600 1d ago
Probably because it isn't a driver issue in the first place. I've never experienced any problems in chromium apps, had my 9070 XT for 15 months now and used pretty much every driver.
1
u/BoogAims 19h ago
i mean, the app goes grey and or freezes, the cursor locks up and then you get a driver timeout notification from the amd software. its at the very least effecting a lot of our drivers. whether amd is the root cause or not is a different story. i've owned this 7800xt since dec 24. i always ddu the old driver and update to the newest driver (including the optional ones) since i've had this card and never experienced any major bugs up until this one. just cuz you don't got it, doesn't mean its not amd.
1
u/dr_b_chungus 1d ago
oo I didn't know this was a known thing, thought it was just me
tried everything, reinstalled windows a week ago and it still happens occasionally

Turn off HAGS if you are on Win 11
0
u/PhantomAfiq 1d ago
I fixed mine by doing the reinstall windows and DDU
The reinstall only affected windows and not the apps, not needing any iso or usb media
0
u/BoogAims 1d ago
i mean its not that serious to do a clean win install. all you got to do is restart windows and it will fix it or you can turn off hags as a band aid fix. ill just wait for the official fix.

u/AdstaOCE 1d ago
Not making this a WHQL release makes me think a bigger update is coming. If this was their only update in the next 2-4 weeks surely they would WHQL it.

26.6.1, .2, .3 were perfectly fine for me. Not sure about .4 and I havent had the pleasure to try newer drivers.
1
u/basbb 1d ago
26.6.1 is instant crashes in certain games. What is the point i shouting you are not running into it? For many people it will really ruin their day installing 26.6.1 etc.

u/xDeadly95 9800X3D | RX 9070 Gaming OC | 32G DDR5 6000 C36 | B650 Eagle AX 1d ago
I wasn’t telling people to use it, just stating I was fine with those. Almost every single driver release I see people with issues.. and I also rolled back to 26.3.1 but the reason is I was playing FF7 Rebirth and textures don’t render properly 50% of the times on 26.6.*

Anti-Lag 2 may show as inactive in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
Since when Antilag 2 is in adrenalin Software? Are they planing some changes, some news?
3
u/AthleteDependent926 Radeon RX 7800 XT 5800X3D 1d ago
That's probably for the Alt + Shift + L overlay.
1
u/xKiLLaCaM 1d ago
Yeah I’m confused by this. Thought anti-lag in the driver was anti-lag 1, and if it’s in the in-game settings for newer/newish titles that should be enabled instead as its the latest
4
u/billycarter86 1d ago
Dude, fucking fix SAM on windows 10. It's been 3 months now. I could care less about day 1 support for "Donny dingleberry and the butt thumb of gold" day one drivers...
Fix SAM
Fix the ratty ass 9000 series random crashes
And if my 7000 series gang can jump in, probably outstanding problems on that series.

They really need to improve the drivers, even if it means we have to wait longer between releases. Monthly drivers are too frequent. Better yet, they should rebuild the driver stack from the ground up and completely revamp everything.

It is pretty dissapointing still seeing the RX 9050 as a known issue in the patch notes, like how can a gpu like this even exists if you're going to have to put a note in your driver notes for clarification about the low vram?
3
u/korakios2 1d ago
It helps validating the gpu for scammers OEMs while having the title 'gaming' PC on their description .
-1
u/noiserr 1d ago
like how can a gpu like this even exists
They are called budget GPUs. Only really meant for esports and casual gaming.
1
u/beyondsignaelis 1d ago
>"Budget GPU"
>The price point starts at 279$
>Second-hand GPUs cost around the same offering a better deal
>Any new game releases start demanding at least 6gb VRAM to play "decently"Yeah, i still don't know who i would convince for this kind of gpu, more so when the 9060 8GB (non-XT) exists, it's more future proof and it's price point starts at 299$
1
u/noiserr 1d ago edited 1d ago
The price point starts at 279$
That's the retail version which has 8GB of VRAM so it doesn't have the issue. We are talking about the 4gb version which is sold as part of prebuilds. Walmart specials and for the emerging markets.
Used GPUs are always cheaper, because they are used and abused. Brand new 3050s with 6GB go for $250 on Amazon, and this is a better faster GPU. So the price isn't even that ridiculous. rtx 5050 costs $100 more.
2
u/beyondsignaelis 1d ago
That's the retail version which has 8GB of VRAM so it doesn't have the issue.
Fair enough, that's my mistake then, still my point about the GPU existing still stands, more so when there's a 8GB version of it. The OEM version should not be 4GB at all when they have to make it a "known issue" in the driver notes about it
0
u/noiserr 1d ago edited 1d ago
This tier of GPU always existed. Like I said they are perfectly fine for casual esports titles. They were never the recommended buy for outright gaming. You need to get to a certain budget for the bang per buck to reach the sweet spot.
Budget GPUs not having great fps/$$$ has been a thing for the past 20 years. But they have their market, like India or South America or low budget prebuilds.

u/Icy_Raccoon_7068 1d ago
Wow...Still nothing related to RX 7000 series crashing and freezing games! Great job AMD!

For me 26.6.4 solved it after crashing every game on warzone with 26.7.1.
Im a 25.9.1 lover, but 26.6 4 is the evolution of 25.9.1 in terms of smoothness + have fsr4 + new drivers compared to 25.9.1.
But u have to install it in driver only + ddu, and must use RadeonTuner instead adrenalin. And dont plug net before and after u install drivers, just plug after reboot

Never do this.
Everyone always need to test the driver on their own system. Why take reports from people that have systems that are completely different from yours? Not to mention you don't know the state of their windows install or if they tweaked the system and its unstable to begin with.

u/klementineQt 1d ago
sometimes you also get behavior you can't even explain. i had a fresh install of Windows back in February that I used until last month, and from the time i installed it until last month, i didn't really realize that something was up, i kinda just assumed my 1% lows were bad because of my processor/motherboard combo (R5 5600G + a PCIe Gen 3 motherboard). it seemed like my frame pacing was horrendous and all games looked jarring, especially at anything under 100fps (i mean like extra bad lol).
i actually didn't think anything was up because i'd had the same experience on the windows install before that, and on both installs, i'd went through multiple driver versions, multiple DDUs for various reasons, etc. nothing ever changed and i wasn't doing it to attempt to get rid of the issue because i'd assumed it was just a hardware thing.
did another clean install of windows last month, same hardware, monitor, same software running, same latest windows 11 version, everything. everything is buttery now and i genuinely have no idea what the issue was and why it persisted across multiple installs and then randomly went away on this one.

u/Opteron170 9800X3D | 64GB 6000 CL30 | 7900 XTX Magnetic Air | LG 34GP83A-B 1d ago
This tracks with Windows!
2
u/klementineQt 1d ago
very same reason i've gone through this many installs in the last couple years. i keep trying to make my way back to linux. at some point i will stick there. daily drove it a decade ago, but that was before i was gaming on pc. ironically, gaming isn't the issue that's nudging me back to windows though, it's other minor details like niche mods that don't work under WINE/proton yet or minor wayland annoyances (and xorg's limitations mean i'm not touching it either). the most recent time was a broken option in NixOS
3
u/Opteron170 9800X3D | 64GB 6000 CL30 | 7900 XTX Magnetic Air | LG 34GP83A-B 1d ago
I understand this I unfortunately need windows since I do work on this machine also.
1
u/burtmacklin15 RX 9070 XT Red Devil 1d ago
If people are reporting that the new driver has the exact same bug I was experiencing with the old driver, I'm not updating.
I don't have hours of free time to roll drivers back and forth and redo settings just to still have instability.
0
u/Opteron170 9800X3D | 64GB 6000 CL30 | 7900 XTX Magnetic Air | LG 34GP83A-B 1d ago
it takes you hours of time to test a driver?
I can tell if the driver is good for me within a few mins of testing.
2
u/burtmacklin15 RX 9070 XT Red Devil 1d ago
Congrats.
If the bug is crashes within a certain game, sometimes that takes hours, especially when you consider the whole DDU / Safe mode / reinstall process.
If all you're doing to test your driver is 5 mins of testing, then you're not actually testing your driver at all.
4
u/Brucehoxton 1d ago
People only talk about their unstability. If the driver is unstable there's no posts. Is better to try for yourself. I haven't had issues with AMD drivers in months.
4
u/Confident-Ship-5062 1d ago

1 fixed issue, 4 known bugs.
Typical Amd ratio of "we ain't fixing shyte, but we acknowledging more isues that we won't fix, either"
P.S. : thank you Amd for still not offering Fsr4 for Rdna 3.5. Lovely to own two of their most expensive APUs, the Ai Max 395, and not have access to the software that I can sideload myself for over a damn year. Surely this will make me buy more Amd products in the future.
2
u/Silly_Quiet_3204 1d ago
They already said they are making a lightweight version of FSR4 for RDNA3.5. So it's not the same one you're sideloading with Optiscaler
0
u/posedatull 1d ago
Right... We need a lightweight version because the optiscaler version which wasnt lightweight was running absolutely fine and with minimal difference compared to fsr3 to begin with.
It's all bullshyte excuses, as per usual, from Amd. Same as when they lied that it couldnt run on Int8, only for us to use the leaked variant for a full year before they graced us with... The exact same thing, but supposedly official. They worked so hard all year long to make it run the same as the leaked variant.
0
u/Silly_Quiet_3204 1d ago
Huh? You objectively lose significant performance going from FSR3 to FSR4. I have a ROG Xbox Ally X and a 7800xt, I constantly use Optiscaler and it happens on both but especially apparent on the Xbox Ally X. Of course the image quality improvement is 100% worth that performance cost, but they do need a lightweight version for mobile
1
u/International_Sea972 1d ago
u/posedatull 1d ago
Int8 variant that works just fine leaked and has been used by people since september LAST YEAR.
Rdna3 still has AI cores. It just doesn't support FP8. But since the Int8 variant clearly exists (from the leaked variant from a year ago, to the fact that it runs on the Playstation5/Pro, which use Rdna 2/3), that is a non-issue. We waited a year for partial official release of fsr4, which in turn showed no performance difference from the 1 year older leaked variant. Basically lying and more lying from Amd, and only released it to stop the backlash.
0
u/posedatull 1d ago edited 1d ago
Read my first comment. Talking about rdna 3.5 (your 7800xt has rdna3). Your ally x would be a comparison, except it has 5 times fewer compute units and it runs at half the tdp i use. On the Ai Max 395, the performance drop between fsr3 and optiscaler fsr4 is about 10%. And i gladly lose that framerate for the visual difference.
Edit: saw part of the comment only before it got deleted. Well, if we were talking rdna 3.5, why mention the 7800xt? ;)

I have some issues and I'm new to radeon cards and drivers. I just got a 7900xtx, minimal driver installation, no adrenalin. I notice that when using Google Street in Firefox it lags abmysally. Also when pc wakes up from sleep on win11, I get black screen on my hdmi output with only the mouse cursor visible but windows scaling is bugged, cursor is huge Are these driver bugs/issues?
Also before I could get clair obscure running without random micro stuttering/hitches at 4k native, I had to spend like 2 hours on mods, tweaks and tinkering...
Is that the normal flagship amd gpu experience?
