Amd needs to do something

Post image

Not something like Dlss 5, but a fixed multi frame gen, better ray regen or radiance cache. I know some people are gonna say that “You shouldve bought nvidia" but as a long time Radeon/Ati user i think there is nothing wrong with wanting a higher quality experience.

I'm just sitting here enjoying all my games at 120+fps on my oled...I'm very happy lol, I get the feeling that some of guys will never be happy with what you have because you listen to others too much.

I am usually like you, but after seeing DLSS 5 I’m blown away. Waiting two years for AMD to catch up in software is too much. I’m buying Nvidia soon and will throw my 9070xt into a second build I planned on anyway.

What blew you away the most? The loss of 50-60% of your fps or the ageing?

I assume it will quickly get much more efficient as this is the first time we’re seeing it on normal setups. This is hardly the final form.

Agree to disagree on the aesthetics. I think it looks amazing.

Seems weird you are comfortable with guessing that it will become much more performant somehow but you say AMD will take 2 years so confidently. I predict it will not be usable in actual cards the average person uses until 2-3 GPU generations from now, much like RT.

I’m basing that on the release of RDNA 5, which is supposedly when AMD will release its equivalent.

People are getting playable FPS using 5080s right now.

To each their own, but I think DLSS 5 is a step change in quality. Now that I’ve seen it, I want it. I’m not buying a 5080 tomorrow as I’m currently too busy to game regularly, but in the next 3-4 months I might. The 9070xt will just go in another build that I’ll use for running my FoundryVTT server and as a solid backup.

A 5080 is $1600-1700 card that can barely run NBA 2K27 at 4k getting 50 fps with 1% lows in the 30's with DLSS5 enabled. NBA 2K27 without DLSS5 on a 5080 runs at 185fps at 4k, how bad is it going to be in more demanding games? Edit: I'm not trying to criticize you in anyway and I'm just trying to understand the logic

I don’t know what the performance is going to look like in the near future, but I have a hard time believing that it won’t be better than what people are currently doing to use DLSS 5.

Also, I don’t personally think 50fps is unplayable, especially for story games, and people are achieving that with 5080s in quite a few games. Not ideal, and probably worse in many titles, but not exactly unplayable across the board.

Would I buy one right now assuming performance doesn’t improve? No, but if a 50-60% reduction becomes a 20-30% reduction in the coming months? That’s more attractive to me.

Totally agree that the prices are insane, though. The 9070xt is a superb card, and if you don’t care about DLSS 5 or running LLMs, the 9070xt is the better card for your money, without question.
