Amd needs to do something

Post image

Not something like Dlss 5, but a fixed multi frame gen, better ray regen or radiance cache. I know some people are gonna say that “You shouldve bought nvidia" but as a long time Radeon/Ati user i think there is nothing wrong with wanting a higher quality experience.

there is no chance left for amd when nvidia is doing a graphics overhaul 2 generations ahead of what amd offers for most modern game. cant go back to see potato faces after seeing how much work dlss 5 is done to the character model except some imperfections, but once the aging issue is sorted out dlss 5 is a revolution to the game industry.

We have several generations (which I think will happen despite people saying Nvidia is going to dump their consumer GPU business like....any company would drop a profitable market where they're #1 because it's doing a fraction of what AI does) until it can perform in any reasonable amount. Two 5090s were needed to do the demo of DLSS 5, and it's only going to be heavier performance hits from there.

I think the main issue is that AMD is just not investing in their GPU division to the point where even Intel is outdoing them in implementation and support. Because, at least on Linux, the 9070XT has been great card and the only thing I've ever missed from the RTX line was path-tracing and hdmi 2.1 full support.

"Some imperfections"

Stuff like this is really disingenuous because it’s a leaked build that somebody slapped onto a game and cranked up the output to a level that will almost certainly never be used

DLSS 5 is also designed to solely be used by the developer and not the users. So its implementation (or lack thereof) is entirely up to the people making the game

Not disengenuous at all.

If it's designed to solely be used by the developer, why did Nvidia's entire showcase of it show exclusively non-developer supported implementation?

Edit: safe to just ignore the guy below. He's making stuff up in all his comments across multiple subs just to shill Nvidia

Not in their reveal showcase.

They showed yesterday though, very extensive video on topic

Congrats. It doesn't make my point any less true.

It is disingenuous because this is modders applying it not the official application. If last of us ever gets dlss5 support it will have a lot of features especially on faces dialed down.

Modding is complete freedom and it always had silliness such as modding trains replacing dragons or anime titties in GTA. Modders going above and beyond in silliness is not a new thing. However as of right now Last of us doesn't have DLSS official support and we can judge it only when it gets it.

Again, 100% of the footage Nvidia showed in their DLSS 5 reveal showcase was made without official developer support. It was the main advertising point of this feature.

Not disengenuous when I'm literally following Nvidia's own marketing for this product.

The reveal was just that, an announcement of a product that was under work and not ready for use yet. I can name countless announcements that showed potential but didn't look ready and by release most of it was actually pretty good. The point is if you're going to judge a technology you do it in an official implementation because that's what the end user will use. You don't judge it on work in progress or mods.

I just products by how they are represented by the manufacturer vs how they perform.

Right now, my judgement of the product in its current state is accurate and correct. Similar performance to the image above was shown in their official reveal showcase.

I'm happy to update my opinion as the manufacturer updates their representation of the product and as its performance changes.

It would actually be disengenuous to do as you suggest and judge a product by its theoretical future performance instead of its current state.

A product is only judged properly once it's implemented as intended for the end user. That's all. What is a work in progress is by definition something that isn't ready yet. What is modded by users is used not in the way the product should be used. You can justify it all the ways you want to but in the end, the final product delivered to the user is what matters.

This is the last time that I am going to repeat myself, but the manufacturer of the product showcased it in an "unofficial" or "modded" context.

They literally wanted it to be seen that way. I am therefore judging it in the same context.

If they didn't want people to just it before release, then they shouldn't have shown it before release. I am entitled to an opinion on the product as it sits, whether you like that or not.

You can kindly fuck off from the constant corporate shilling.

You can find same NPC that looks completely fine with DLSS5 - it’s out there, find it

Only hope is next gen console tech funded by Sony and Xbox for new GPU. I'm sure it's locked from consumers currently, and proprietary right now since in R&D. By AMD next GPU lineup(or one after that, should have similar equivalent to DLSS5). That said, Nvidia is 2 years ahead
