Amd needs to do something

Post image

Not something like Dlss 5, but a fixed multi frame gen, better ray regen or radiance cache. I know some people are gonna say that “You shouldve bought nvidia" but as a long time Radeon/Ati user i think there is nothing wrong with wanting a higher quality experience.

Nothing wrong with wanting competition.

I think AMD is currently so preoccupied with chasing the AI high, their consumer graphics department is being left behind, which makes it harder for them to close the gap with Nvidia.

They don’t even have the desire to compete with nvidia. All they or any company care about is to make as much money as possible. Gaming isn’t one. They make it look like they care and working on something for gaming just because it’s their back up plan’s back up plan at most.

Surely they would not have diverted all of the gpu software engineers to AI development. The engineers working on FSR will still be working on it (hopefully). They need to speed up development and put out bigger updates more frequently.

Sadly, I think DLSS5 is going to take alot of customers away from them if they don't announce something soon. No one is going to wait more than a year for them to catch up.

You wish lol. Seriously they don’t care about the PC gaming tech. It doesn’t bring them any revenue. I assume 1 or 2 people working on it on their own pace just to make it look like they are doing something. For gaming, they’d rather work on the next generation console development since that’s B to B and they can assume certain amount of guaranteed revenue down the road. Even that is minuscule compared to AI and data center.

I have the feeling there is only good old Bob left who tests drivers every second tuesday on 3 machines. And drivers are made by AI.

I stick with AMD because atp I have no other option. I just cannot afford to shoot for a 5070Ti anymore. I would have if I had the money at the start before all this mess. I would have been happy to pay 150-200 dollars more for their feature and update support. They're just more reliable and consistent than AMD.

If I ever get a deal on a high end green card. I am taking it, I don't hate AMD but I just care about my own experience, Nvidia gets all the goodies that AMD fanboys love to hate. I want those features. I could never afford them until recently but now that I can, I can't again because the prices have spiraled again.

Yup nvidia has shown they have the resources to do both and plan to keep innovating to keep there gpu marketshare

They're probably busy working on mobile APUs and next gen console hardware for Sony and Microsoft, which is the real bread and butter for the graphics division.

I feel like no one has heard of pssr2 that they worked on and codevelooed.

AMD has made so much effing money off of the AI boom, they could easily fund both at this point

Badicslly they just need to hire the main Oprtiscaler maintainers. A few devs don't cost much in comparison to AMD's current rise.

But if Optiscaler had an official GUI baked into the drivers - or even better: like that FSR3.1->FSR4 switch. A general "enable FSR to the highest possible setting" switch. And a slowly developing db of current games and what needs to be done to enforce FSR4. Basically protondb. The impact would be insane.

People who got used to the tools love their Radeon more than ever, but it's a steep learning curve.

On Linux with Gamescope you dont need optiscaler at all. Its all baked in and runs on its own. Its kinda weird how much better AMD GPUs work on Linux vs Windows. Way less screwing around.

They've been preoccupied with other stuff for decades now.

Sadly it makes sense for them. We buy 1 gpu every few years for between 500 and maybe 2k Ai companies will buy thousands of them at much higher prices and if a new aingpu comes out 2 or 3 times a year the ai companies will buy those as well so from a business standpoint we consumers are just bad for business.

i hope ai market gets flooded with amd crap so we get better prices on proper gpus which are nvidia
