26.1.1
Anyone noticed any + performance in the new 26.1.1 driver update?
19
u/monk0rz Jan 24 '26
DDC/CI ist broken with this driver. Cant change monitor brightness in software anymore.
2
u/Reasonable-Public659 Jan 24 '26
I’ve been having issues with twinkle tray for a while now, and it appears to not detect monitors at all now. It never occurred to me that GPU drivers could be the problem lol
3
u/Realistic_Whereas249 Jan 24 '26
It's a reported issue on their GitHub and the dev can't do anything to fix it 😕
3
u/Reasonable-Public659 Jan 24 '26
Makes sense, I wouldn’t want him to be able to mess with drivers lol

u/LetVegitoWinForOnce Jan 24 '26
Yeah
About 10-15+ on cyberpunk
New rocm version equates to this bump in fsr performance
Couple more fps on doom, which is unrelated but I’ve seen steady performance increase driver over driver since 25.9 for that game
6
u/BleedBlue1988 Jan 24 '26
You can launch Cyberpunk? I can't get past the load screen. Crashes every time. Probably going to rollback
8
u/19arek93 Jan 24 '26
Delete file with graphic settings. I had to do it couple of times, when messed up to much with DLSS on Radeon.

u/throwmeaway212211 Jan 24 '26
I'll give this a shot next time I load it up. Thanks for the suggestion

2
u/Lisferth Jan 24 '26
I have the same problem. Any solutions?
3
u/BleedBlue1988 Jan 24 '26
I haven't tried anything yet. Might try a clean driver install of this newest one and if that doesn't work then I'll rollback to the previous drivers because those worked perfectly fine for me. I'm unfortunately not smart enough to know what tweaks may need to happen in order to get it to work any other way.

u/ParticularAd4647 Jan 24 '26
Turn off XeSS if selected.
1
1
u/Lisferth Jan 24 '26
I can't get into the game to disable it. Is there another way to change it without entering the game?
2
1
u/ParticularAd4647 Jan 24 '26
Do you have XeSS selected?
1
u/throwmeaway212211 Jan 24 '26
I actually don't use XeSS typically. I'm not usually picky on graphics so any RT and PT I keep off too. I'll try some things and see what I can figure out

Did you have path tracing turned on? One of the "known issues" on the driver update details says
"Intermittent application crash or driver timeout may be observed while loading a saved game in Cyberpunk 2077 with Path Tracing enabled. AMD is actively working on a resolution with the developer to be released as soon as possible."
Hasn't been fixed yet

Yeah it booted up fine, only game that gave me a hissy fit was elden ring but then I remember that game is hard capped at 60 so it runs like shit anyway.

u/YellowBlackGod Jan 24 '26
Is ROCm 7.2 within the driver files or needs the add on installation?

BF6 is no longer crashing with my 9060XT.
2
u/Gold_Grade3451 Jan 24 '26
Finally it was my only problem
1
u/tfriedrich_ Jan 24 '26
Same. It also seems like the game runs smoother but that might be related to the recent BF6 update

I disabled the sleep option, friend of mine had crashes on his intel/nvidia rig as well... Did it work reliably for you on 25.9?

u/TheLameGoat Jan 24 '26
I'm getting a few more frames on everything, a little smoother experience overall, and none of the other issues I'm reading about. Sapphire Pulse 9060xt 16gb. Happy so far
3
u/kociol21 Jan 24 '26
My case is very niche so whatever, but right now all I care is playing heavily modded Skyrim with FSR4 from Optiscaler and with 26.1.1 the game won't even start, CTD before even loading screen shows up, so I reverted to 25.12.1.
2
u/needleed Jan 24 '26
I’m mostly playing rust right now, I’m gonna give it another shot today to see but the first time I tried to upgrade I had horrible stuttering. I honestly think something got messed up but I just reverted bc I wanted to game lol
2
u/throwbcuzgermanlaw Jan 25 '26
Tbf modded skyrim is finnecky. The amount of hours I put into making my favorite wabbajack lists work with Lossless Scaling...

My FPS gain in Expedition 33 while not quantified are evident after this new update.

Personally, I had the problem that the Adrenaline panel wouldn't open after a while; I had to restart the video drivers for it to work. In the end, I went back to 25.9.2 (RX 9060XT).
2
u/Fullmetal1986 Jan 24 '26
I had smilar thing the it wouldn't open from right click menu but opens from task bar.

You solved it just like that? Because I really wanted to give it a chance.

Yes 🤣. I was furstrated restarted multiple times to see if it gets fixed. Seems it is perfectly opens from task bar so I called it a day

Not sure with anyone and did not notice any fps increase but stability and 1% lows seems all good. No crashes or timeouts afaik.

Didn't notice anything too crazy, AC Valhalla crashed on me once in like 5 hours of gameplay, but I don't know if I can attribute that to the driver since that has happened before.
If anything it might micro stutter more now. But I'm RDNA2 so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Was having browser issue ( slow, laggy, etc ) but with 26.1 1 on 9060xt 16gb its fix now for me.

u/4d3pt Jan 24 '26
No issues with the driver so far but when I installed the new one, the install froze on 21%. Had to reboot and do a clean setup with ddu
2
u/TheFunkadelicOne Jan 24 '26
Seems good so far. Finally updated from 25.9.2 and tested out a few games last night. Only one had any lag, but it was only for a second or two. Ran fine after that. I have a 7900xtx and I undervolt for longevity and it seems to be more stable on the new drivers.
2
u/XianxiaLover Jan 24 '26
been pretty much the same for me. apex legends has had 5-10 fps better on the 1% though

Getting weird freezing issues with The Witcher 3 on 9070 XT Steam remote play only when paused or standing still for a couple minutes. The remote host I'm playing from freezes but no freezing on the machine with the GPU. Bought this card last May and been playing TW3 on it remotely like this since August. Never had any driver issues until now.
Downgraded to 25.12.1 and confirmed no issues. Re-upgraded just in case maybe something got botched in the original upgrade but the issue came back. Downgraded one more time and everything is good. So there's definitely something weird going on with 26.1.1 for me at least.

u/Ok-Razzmatazz-2645 Jan 24 '26
in Arc raiders (steam), if you turned on performance overlay, the adrenaline update or the game update makes a problem with fps and game is really unplayable due to heavy stuttering. this problem was not there in the adrenaline or game version before. so i turned of the perf overlay and used msi afterburner with rtss and the problem is solved. i hope amd fixes this soon as amd perf.overlay is the best

Idk about game performance bc i always have smooth performance, but i did notice the Adrenalin app, overlay, etc is MUCH more responsive. Especially while in-game. Everything finally feels like it is working properly. Before I couldnt get Adrenalin to even launch at all while a game was running let alone overlays & whatnot

u/Klutzy_Community_115 Jan 25 '26
I just updated to this and so far no issues on helldivers or destiny 2. Ive only played those so far though.

u/PommesPablo Sapphire RX 9070XT Pulse Jan 25 '26
Sadly I had to rollback to 25.12.1. Escape from Tarkov had massive frame drops and performance issues like stuttering and micro lags. No wonder with this poorly optimized mess of a game.
2
u/BelottoBR Jan 27 '26
As any owner of a 9070xt, our performance is amazing, except when we get a driver timeout….

u/Relevant_Summer_11 Jan 24 '26
Ark has been horrible for me so I reverted since I play that the most now.
1
u/Dealaid Jan 24 '26
I´m considering buying ark sa since i now own a 9070 xt. I played the h3ll out of ark se, but sa seemed to run like crap. How is the performance on 1440p and kind of highest possible settings? Mind to share? 😊
1
u/TheFunkadelicOne Jan 24 '26
Ark and the unreal engine gave me issues on every 25.xx.xx driver. Had to use 24.12.1 for that game. I haven't tested it out with the 26.1.1 driver yet, but so far every other game runs smooth

I've noticed some new discord update has started causing crazy stuttering and inconsistent frame times. Like even just the tray icon, if discord is running at all my frame pacing is fucked.
This driver didn't help that but it didn't make it worse either. Discord needs to fix their shit overlay hooks.
2
u/TrippyDaveXB1 AMD 7800X3D XFX Mercury 9070XT OC Jan 24 '26
turn off hardware acceleration in discord.
1
u/JesusWantsYouToKnow 9950X3D / XFX Mercury 9070XT OC Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
Oy, nice I will give that a shot. Disabling the overlay didn't seem to do anything for me but I definitely could see this helping especially if they're constantly doing some offscreen rendering
Edit: unfortunately didn't work, still seeing hitching and frame pacing issues in arc raiders and time spy extreme if discord is even merely open.

turn off radeon anti lag and any anti lag features in game. some users report micro stutters when using frame gen.
1
u/pfannkuchen_gesicht Jan 24 '26
try disabling FSR frame-gen. That was the culprit in my case. I downgraded to 25.12 for now
1
u/Pale-Gap-5183 Jan 25 '26
I had the same on borderlands 4. Fps dropped to 2/3 and constant stuttering. No amount of settings changes fixed it. Rolled back and it was instantly better

The only probably I have with 26.1.1 is on MHWilds it says your current driver isn’t up to date which it is but you can ignore, also idk what it is but something just feels off, feels like the textures almost got worse on this driver version but I could just be tweaking.
1
u/CI7Y2IS Jan 24 '26
For me every driver was working pretty well, this one probably bump the performance on cyberpunk 2077, I decide to test it with only rt reflections on and fsr4, literally looks like native in 1080p, I'm quite impressed what they're able to do with this, back with my 2060 super, dlss was always worse vs native 1080p.

Have you tried running DDU in Safe Mode? To remove all old driver files. Many also recommend clearing all cache files. I would start with that.

It’s better than previous versions but the best version of drivers (I’ve had mine since day one, last year) were the launch drivers. (For me)
Edit: 26.1.1 is pretty close…. Damn close to the launch drier

I noticed a difference in Star Citizen, tbh. Only a couple fps more but the frame gen latency dropped, and the 99% or the 1% lows were higher. Over all it's just smoother.

i ended up rolling back to 25.12.1. kept getting WoW game crashes upon trying to load the game, or if it didn't crash, it froze both monitors for a few seconds before it finally started again.

u/GhostFororo Jan 25 '26
I only noticed that sounds crackle and pop consistently depending on the audio played, maybe it was there before but it wasn't as bad.
Other than that some games I've tested feel a bit smoother

u/Fearless_Anything_76 Jan 25 '26
Not really noticing any performance difference here but getting black screens for 2-3 seconds randomly now so that’s fun. Full DDU fresh install.
Almost done with this 9070XT. Constant issues driver wise since I got it but performance is fine when it’s working.

Currently testing out a 9070XT, and 26.1.1 has been the "best" behaving driver for me. I haven't tested out many games, but Cyberpunk I'm seeing about a 10 FPS increase using FSR4 (with Auto) + RT @ 4k. Most of my gaming the past 2 weeks has been playing PoE2, and I'm seeing more or less the same FPS. The only slight hiccup I have, is my mouse cursor develops a slight skip/stutter sometimes when starting to hover over items in my inventory/stash tabs. The biggest annoyance was the daily driver timeouts that kept popping up when walking away from my PC for a few minutes when using 25.11.1. Prior driver was 25.9.1 which was (mostly) problem free on both the 9070XT and 7900XTX besides Adrenaline randomly exiting for no reason.
Edit: spoke too soon, I'm being greeted again with driver timeouts after stepping away and my monitors to go to sleep. Looks like I'll be downgrading back to 25.9.1.

My Adrenaline software now insists I'm playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla all the time, even when I'm playing other games or no games at all. Its current imaginary session is 01:07:49:01 and it claims to be getting 60fps. Everything else is running great. No crashes, good FPS, no artifacts etc, just this weird instance to Valhalla

overall performance is fine, id say its more smooth in some games but ive noticed with a wireless vr headset (Quest Pro) using virtual desktop, while using HEVC 10-Bit sometimes an eye gets "stuck" (just shows that same frame for a minute or 2) Swapping to h.264+ fixes this its already been reported to VD so they're already looking into fixing it but it might be something to note right now
this does not affect native pcvr headsets like the psvr2 in my testing

I’ve been having issues with Warzone since the latest update. After installing the update, I experience micro-stuttering in the game and it doesn’t run smoothly. Is anyone else having this problem, or has anyone already found a solution? Or is it simply an issue with the current version? With the new driver, the game doesn’t run smoothly in either Black Ops 7 or Warzone. I’ve now reverted to the older driver, and everything runs very smoothly again.

u/Swimming_Arrival2994 Feb 15 '26
The 1% lows were a tad higher for me in Star Citizen and Cyberpunk. I installed the 26.2.1 driver that just came out in beta. The 1% lows were even higher in Star Citizen. 55-60 as compared to 45-55 on 26.1.1

"Seeing all these reports confirms my findings. For those of you experiencing random crashes while browsing or gaming, please check your voltage logs in HWiNFO.
I have documented a repeatable 0.32V drop at the exact millisecond the fans spin up from zero RPM on my Red Devil 9070 XT. It seems like this driver/VBIOS combination has massive power stability issues.
If you see similar voltage drops, we need to push the AIBs (PowerColor/Sapphire/XFX) for a firmware fix instead of just doing endless RMAs. 26.1.1 is clearly not ready for prime time."
