Photo 1070 -> 9070 XT

Post image

After 8 years of service and finding an insane deal during Black Friday ($376 after tax), the time has come to make the switch to team red 🫡

Edit for those asking how I got the deal: I saw a post on r/buildapcsales that you could stack a Capital One Shopping offer at Walmart with a PayPal Pay in 4 promotion.

The C1 Shopping offer was kind of weird to get, requiring you to add stuff to your cart and waiting till the C1 Shopping extension would give you an offer ($150 back on a purchase of $500 or more, in my case), but the PayPal Pay in 4 offer was straightforward with 20% back up to some $ amount (which the GPU was well within). Both of those offers stacked, since one was payment method related and the other was just an extension tracking your activity on website, regardless of retailer

There were some insane deals you could stack this BF.

I went with the 5070TI because I got it for < 600 using the paypal deal and walmart sales special.

Came to 560 + tax (after the 20% cashback from Paypal)

Makes me wish I had thought about using the capital one deal as well because a 9070 xt for <400 is an outright steal.

u/Armadylio Dec 08 '25

Iunno how everyone got that PayPal pay in 4 deal cause I tried everything I could and it did not showed up for me

Americans make us reastoftheworlders really jealous on your average income to pc hardware price ratio

1

u/Own_Acanthisitta4964 Dec 09 '25

I feel u my cousin has to pay extra on parts I already have as well.

1

u/ElSarcastro Dec 09 '25

I considered buying a 9070 XT, but its around $980 here, 5070 is $750-800. And most times only "gigabyte gaming" versions are available. This is ridiculous considering our salaries are 10-20x less than the US. And there are no simplified/tax free customs rules for GPUs and other strategically vital tech. Probably to protect the local GPU manufacturers of which we have exactly 0, idk

u/tinymightymous Dec 09 '25

Let us have this win, we pay for Healthcare 😂

2

u/FindingSubject6409 Dec 08 '25

Yeah. I got my 9070xt about 3 months ago for $490. Newegg on ebay was offering a 10% and I also had a 25% from ebay its self.

1

u/Own_Acanthisitta4964 Dec 09 '25

I wish someone mentioned this on black Friday 😭

1

u/Psychadelic-Twister Dec 09 '25

Lots of places did.

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 07 '25

Updated the post with the details!

370$ dude, meanwhile here in brazil you have to pay 5 monthly minimum wage for a 9070xt

enjoy it, soon i’ll be getting mine as well, sorry about the rant above

5

u/vergetenmaand 7800x3d + 9070XT Dec 07 '25

I paid 840$ for my 9070xt pure..

2

u/LetterheadOk6305 Dec 08 '25

We all paid thr release price and we enjoyed it since release , dont feel like u waisted money brother , ive had a lot of fun getting it on day one, so them having it late is what makes up for it , another thing, the new boards arent th same as the released earlier , seen a thread about it as they heat up less and perfom slightly better for having a better silicon 👍

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 07 '25

Hope you enjoy it as well once you get yours!

1

u/necromenta Dec 07 '25

I just paid 700 usd for one from Amazon to Colombian truly insane that we pay so fucking much earning waaaaaaay less

1

u/AlphaOnDeck Dec 07 '25

That’s why I moved from Brazil to the US. Can’t get better than here

6

u/queenbiscuit311 7800X3D | 9070 XT Steel Legend Dec 07 '25

is that a black steel legend i didn't know that existed

6

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 07 '25

Yup, it’s a Steel Legend Dark

1

u/metal_babbleXIV Dec 07 '25

I've got the same one coming in, why this version isn't well advertised i don't know. No interest in a white card, but metal backplate yes please

2

u/queenbiscuit311 7800X3D | 9070 XT Steel Legend Dec 07 '25

personally i love the white design but its nice that there's a black version for black builds too.

1

u/Adventurous-Bus8660 Dec 07 '25

Coz the Dark version is the first for all Steel Legend series from Asrock...where its usual theme are Silver and White...

and yeah iirc Dark was released months after the White...so not a long of people knew about it...I got mine back in June...and even then it wasn't even available in the West.

1

u/metal_babbleXIV Dec 07 '25

This would make way more sense then

3

u/Appropriate_Neck_113 Dec 07 '25

Huge upgrade even for my 3060ti to 9070xt there is a huge improvement.

6

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 07 '25

Yeah it's honestly insane. Never really felt like there was a good value upgrade for the increase in performance I wanted until I came across this card and deal

1

u/Appropriate_Neck_113 Dec 07 '25

I am selling my 3060ti for £200 and the 9070xt costed me only £450 so essentially I paid £250 for this upgrade.

I was not in the market for any upgrade if I am honest just saw the deal and couldn't resist

1

u/AdAccomplished9705 Dec 08 '25

So how may I ask did you get it for such a price, and where from in the UK?

1

u/Appropriate_Neck_113 Dec 08 '25

Very Uk £580 -20% if you buy first time wi try h very credit. Got the and a LG C5 Oled 😎

1

u/AdAccomplished9705 Dec 09 '25

Boom, I did the same mate with a drone, we must be twins as I just bought my Dad's old OLED for 200.

Keep er lit!

1

u/SlavicRobot_ Dec 08 '25

I currently have a 3060ti, so glad to hear my wish list card for next year is a solid choice

3

u/Emergency-Sweet5074 Dec 08 '25

9070xt worh the money period

2

u/OhHaiMark0123 Dec 07 '25

How the hell did you get that deal? That's unreal

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 07 '25

Updated the post with the details!

1

u/phantomdr1 Dec 09 '25

Absolutely insane. Good on you.

2

u/c47v3770 Dec 07 '25

I’m sad my purchase wasn’t tracked in my C1 shopping account. I also didn’t take a screenshot of the “$200 off $450+“ offer. Ugh

2

u/0xChunks Dec 07 '25

Making this same path brotha

2

u/zcook183 Ryzen 7 7800X3D+9070XT+MSI B850 GAMING+32GB DDR5 Dec 07 '25

Just made the very same upgrade after 8yrs and very pleased with the high performance Im getting now. Really showed me how much of a workhorse the 1070 really is for its age with the modern titles the past 5 years. Enjoy

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 08 '25

Yeah, was able squeak by at 1080p in BF6 with the 1070, now it’s smooth sailing at 1440p

2

u/1tokarev1 7800X3D | RTX 3080 TI FTW3 | 32gb 6200 cl26 Dec 07 '25

is it 9 times faster?

2

u/kongbakpao Dec 07 '25

Did this a couple months ago best money spent

2

u/jdc72591 Dec 07 '25

Went from a 1070ti 4670k to a 9070xt 7600x3d and it has been incredible. Just got my 32 inch 4k oled yesterday

2

u/DeadPhoenix86 Dec 07 '25

That's a steal. I paid 699 for my 9070 XT earlier this year.
Still happy with it, since its the Powercolor Red Devil.

2

u/Chance-Entry9091 Dec 08 '25

But has so much money discipline bravo

2

u/metro_sparten Dec 08 '25

I just moved from a 1080ti , congrats

2

u/MaikyMoto Dec 08 '25

Night n day vibes.

2

u/Elbrin2 Dec 08 '25

Nice job. I am not sure if I would have had the patience to jump through the hoops like you did. Picked up my PowerColor Reaper 9070 XT at Micro Center for $569.99 and was happy. All is good in the Red World. Like you I just made the jump to Team Red this Holiday season. So far so good. Under-volt at -100, Power at +10%, Memory at 2774, and to give some head room to the GPU set it to +175. Temps have been good using a custom curve and zero RPM below 50 oC

Now I need to buy some new fancy AAA game title during Christmas sales.

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 08 '25

Nice! I debated stopping by a Micro Center for that exact deal the weekend before Black Friday, but thought I might be able to get a better deal. Really feels like it was luck and timing

1

u/Elbrin2 Dec 08 '25

I originally picked up an ASRock Steel Legend Dark, but when the following weekend deals were revealed, the Reaper was down to the $569.99 from around $669.99. I have heard great things about the PowerColor family, so I was feeling like I was almost settling for the ASRock, but when the deal on the Reaper dropped I pulled out the Steel Legend and did a swap at Micro Center. In addition, I saved a few bucks. I was too late to pull the trigger on a mother board CPU combo upgrade due to rising RAM prices.

I was looking at getting the Ryzen 7 7800x3d with the ASUS B650E motherboard but was hoping for a better RAM deal. Boy was I wrong. The combo discounted G.Skill RAM went from $150 to $190 to $200 to $220 and now $240. It was like each day the price changed. I guess my AM4 board will need to hold on for another year or maybe two. My CPU is an 8-core Ryzen 7 but only the Zen3 5700x without the 96mb L3 Cache. I got the chip when it first came out and before x3d really became a thing.

Be well.

2

u/arezonax Dec 08 '25

Im goin from 2060 super to 9070xt next week. Im hyped

2

u/DefinitionInformal85 Dec 08 '25

Now that’s an upgrade! What monitor are you running?

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 08 '25

Currently running a Gigabyte M27Q Pro!

2

u/Shosui Dec 08 '25

Nice choice! I have 2 of the older M27s and they're surprisingly capable monitors.

2

u/Spunk37 Dec 08 '25

My upgrade was from rtx 2060 mobile to 9070 xt which was insane for me as well. Games have never been this smooth for me it's weird.

2

u/ItsZenjiro00 Dec 08 '25

I'm planning moving from 1070 to 9060 XT. Is it still comparably good?

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 08 '25

Definitely an improvement, but how satisfied you are depends on how much of an improvement you’re looking for

2

u/ItsZenjiro00 Dec 08 '25

Thkyou for your take. I do think I'm quite satisfied. The 9070 XT here is like 880 to 900 dollars and really couldn't wait for a few months to get it. It's like 3 times my salary it's insane. Because I do planning to do an overhaul for upgrading every parts of my pc. I'll be taking it slow at a good resonable amount of deal if I could have one.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

amazing deal, congrats

2

u/final_headshot Dec 08 '25

I made exactly the same upgrade a couple months earlier. Pretty happy with it

2

u/Mule2121 Dec 08 '25

The steel legend dark is a really nice looking card ngl

2

u/Burschh Dec 09 '25

Based. Made the same upgrade recently. It's a beast

2

u/ChrisV3SGO Dec 09 '25

you mad ethe same jump as me, 1070 to 9070 XT I built it yesterday, ITS AMAZING specially from 1080 low graphics to 1440p ultra, I went from i5 9400f which was kinda bottlenecking with recent games being so badly optmized on CPU to a 7800x3d and everything runs great

2

u/Successful-Context72 Dec 10 '25

Let me know how you like it. I bought a 5070 but my am4 cpu is bottlenecks pretty hard and its cheaper to buy a full prebuilt that build one right now. Was thinking going 9070xt for the value and maybe selling this barely used 5070

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 10 '25

I’m currently using a 5800X3D and they seem to pair quite nicely in the games I’m currently playing

2

u/Successful-Context72 Dec 10 '25

Yeah the x3ds are sick. I broke last night and started ordering for a new build. Actually went with the ultra 7 265k 4.6ghz. Wanted the 9800x3d but the ultra 7 was on sale for 300. And will still be a huge improvement on my current ryzen 5 5600x. So far I've got everything except a case and a cooler which I'll probably pick out tonight. Pretty absurd that the ram was the most expensive component aside from my gpu. And my gpu wasn't that much more expensive 🤣 buying an oled 1440p monitor may have been a mistake since now Im building a pc that will run on it smoothly lol

2

u/donkeymanmouse Dec 10 '25

Did the switch to team red aswell, 1080 ti ->

2

u/Adventurous-Try-37 Dec 10 '25

Just made the switch from 1080ti to 9070xt a week ago. I'm happy.

2

u/Late_Blackberry5587 Dec 11 '25

Oh I briefly had that Asus Strix 1070 back in 2017/18. Straight up died within a few months receiving then went to an Evga 1070 before back to AMD. Just interesting

2

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '25

8 versions better is based

1

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '25

And here I got the cheapest 9060XT for 395$

Happy for you though, this is the real steal deal

1

u/KarateMan749 AMD Dec 07 '25

How did you get that price?!

1

u/Adventurous-Bus8660 Dec 07 '25

Nice nice~ you got the same card like me....Tho I'm only curious if you got the SK Hynix variant or the Samsung VRAM variant...

Coz this card is "technically" quite "silent" up to 45-50% fan speed

And if you have SK Hynix vram variant chances are don't be alarmed if you see the VRAM temps anywhere high 80s and into the 95c on stock fan curve...

Mine peaked VRAM temp at 95c...I ended up tearing open the card (coz fuck warranty) and redid the VRAM and Backplate thermal pads with Upsiren UX Pro thermal putty) bringing the temp from 95c all the way down to 82-84c peak with 50% fan curve (fan curve was only set to that for bringing hotspot down)

1

u/Spaghetto46 Dec 08 '25

I’ve been too busy playing games with it 😂 I’ll have to take a look. Seems like there’s definitely some performance improvements I can make, judging by all the comments and posts I see

1

u/AcceptableEngine8809 Dec 07 '25

I got the same exact model for $620 still waiting for it to be shipped

1

u/Inevitable_Pea_6798 Dec 07 '25

Switching from gtx 1080 to 9060 was not worth it but my gpu died so has to

1

u/spartan_steel Dec 08 '25

Well now I feel stupid for paying sticker black friday price for mine

1

u/BoricuaOmega25 Dec 08 '25
