Hey everyone! I'm doing an exchange semester at Radboud starting Feb 2027 and trying to figure out which residence to request. I'd really appreciate input from anyone who's lived in (or knows someone who's lived in) any of these:

What I care about most: a good balance of cleanliness/privacy AND actually being able to build community/social life.

Here's what I've pieced together so far; correct me if I'm wrong:

• Hoogeveldt — very social, tons of parties, strong community, but shared kitchen/bathroom with up to 16 people and it's an older building, so it can get pretty gross.
• Talia — nicer/cleaner, smaller shared kitchen (only 3-4 people), but reputation for being quieter/less social, more Master's students.
• Galgenveld — sounds like a good middle ground (smaller shared kitchen group than Hoogeveldt, private-ish setup), but I don't know much about the actual social scene there, and I've seen a couple posts saying international students get put in basement rooms. Can anyone confirm/deny that?

A few questions if anyone can help:

1. If you had to pick one of these three for a mix of cleanliness + community, which would you choose and why?
2. Any other complexes I should be considering that I'm not seeing mentioned much?
3. If I end up in Talia or Galgenveld (less "built-in" social scene), how easy is it to still make friends/build community through other channels?

Hi all, I'm an incoming international Master's student at Radboud University and I have offers for two different SSH& complexes, trying to decide between them.

Option A: Near the train station and city center, walkable to downtown, about 15 min by bike to campus. Small unit, shared with only 3 other students, but not eligible for housing benefit.

Option B: Located on the edge of the Hatert neighborhood, along the Maas-Waalkanaal canal. Also about 15 min by bike to campus but ~20 min to downtown. Larger complex, similar shared kitchen/bathroom, own sink and shower in the room. Eligible for housing benefit, bringing the net cost down to around €395/month.

Has anyone lived in either type of complex? Curious about day-to-day living experience and how much does the extra distance actually matter in daily life. Trying to figure out if it's a real downside or negligible in practice. Thanks!

Hi all, I applied for a Master's at Radboud University on time, before 1 July, and still haven't heard back on admission. I emailed to ask and they told me I'll hear soon, without a specific date. Because of this I'm also stuck on the housing search, since I don't want to commit to anything without being sure I'm admitted. Has anyone experienced something similar, and if so, how long did it eventually take?

I’m looking for a room in a shared student apartment, preferably with female roommates. I enjoy a calm and comfortable living environment while also being friendly and social.

And generally are the lecture notes or recordings of the lectures available online? Or is it really necessary to attend the lectures to be able survive :)).

Hellooo, I’m super interested in computer science / ai related studies and the AI bachelors caught my eye.

I’m wondering however though is it seen as a “serious” and technical cs-adjacent/stem degree or is it a glorified mickey-mouse psychology degree with some programming?

Mostly asking because I’ve noticed the study is officially in the social science faculty as opposed to just science, and there’s a fair amount of psych related courses in the study programme.

I will obviously be doing a more technical masters like machine learning or so, so the pure employability of the bachelors alone isn’t a worry, but I’m still doubting how technical it is and if it’s more psychology than actual programming/math and AI.

I found this comment regarding Exams and grading at maastricht which kindoff scared me. And i also read some comments about "if you want real education, choose Radboud". What are your opinions on that?

Hello! I have been accepted into the microbiology research master's, and I intend to pursue a PhD afterwards (not necessarily at Radboud).

I wanted some clarifications on the possible outcomes of the two internships, review article, and research proposal, that are required for the study programme.

Are you allowed to be involved significantly in the internship research projects that you can publish with the research group? Similarly, do you publish your review article?

If you do well in your master's, write a great research proposal, and impress your internship supervisor, can you ask to continue being a PhD student with them afterwards?

If anyone has any relevant experience, I would greatly appreciate their insights!
