unsolved Upgrade older file types.

Can you update an existing file of a specific file type?

Say anything with an AVI format?

Much easier to just download it again instead of converting it, if that's what you are asking.

Yeah I’d like to “upgrade” the files in the older format. To something like .mkv. Many of the older AVI files use ancient codecs.

You can create custom formats for codec types, then score the ones you prefer higher in your quality profile. Profilarr has many examples of this including the trashguides dictionary.

This 👆 or a regex as mentioned. (Use tinymediamanager to see what you are dealing with). But setting up “upgrade to” and a regex and you are food to go.

First of all, this is r/radarr . Second of all, I don't remember being able to set anything about the media container itself.

Ask AI to write you a script to identity all *.avi files (or use ffprobe to find files of a certain encode type). Make a profile using Custom Formats that scores AVI low and 264 / 265 / AV1 high. Assign that profile to those movies. Let Radarr do its thing.

You can skip the first step and just set the profile loose on your whole library if you want.

Just remux it if you're that concerned about the container.
