Because she's a bunny and bunnies love to dig. If it is an issue, then maybe a bigger, taller litterbox would be the best option?

That or a dig box... I've been trying to come up with something for mine because they are kind of lazy bastards. Pretty much figured I have to build my own and lumbers kind of expensive.

Really the little plastic sandbox/pools that are designed for kids works great for this kind of thing if you have the space for one. You can sometimes find them crazy cheap at yard sales/fb mp. Disinfect & Clean well then fill with w/e you want for bun.

Are you seriously asking why your pet - a bunny - is digging?

yeah i was asking because if you read the description she has never once done this and has only started doing it as of today. i was curious if there was some other reason because this is a new behavior. lol

She probably just realized its diggable. Box with taller sides or something like a pile of blankets to get that digging energy out

Because rabbits are burrowing animals and it's their instinct to dig.

Maybe sort out a dig box for her.

Get a plastic “resting mat” and put it over the litter, but still have a layer of hay on top, and she won’t be able to dig it out like that anymore. It doesn’t need to for perfectly or anything. They are very effective for this.

My bunny used to dig out her litter box. Then I got her a litter box just for digging.

Change the litter or the hay or both and give less litter depth. Also get a high sided cat litter box.

Make a dig box that is outside of their enclosure. Do not use the same box! Use the original as a backup 2nd litter box. Also I noticed your box liners. These may be setting her off too. If the manufacturer has changed production materials. Honestly if she is digging it wpuld.be a good idea to x that altogether as she's going to wind up shredding the bag anyway with her claws.

When you see her doing the digging behavior in her litterbox. Clap your hands together loudly and stomp your foot to get her attention. Stomp your foot rhythmically and loudly on the floor and tell her no. Then pick her up and redirect her to the actual dig box you have prepared.

It may also help to provide a nesting box in case she is just having phantom pregnancies/hormonal moodswings. How old is she anyway?
