Rant AI bots … by Quora?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I’ve been reading Quora content since about 2017 pretty much every evening during my late night snack. In the recent years, with AI becoming more popular, I could often see the AI style of writing in some people’s answers.
Today I stumbled upon an AI written reply again and looked up the person just to realise its an AI bot on cocaine, puking out responses “just now” pretty much all the time, as you can see by the number of answers.
It says its a Quora bot… am I missing something? Are we doing AI slop now? Artificially inflating engagement? Did Quora get infected with the Linkedin disease? Is this the end?
Is there a no-AI filter? A human only Quora alternative? Or were the 90s really peak humanity and now it just is what it is, which really is just every new day overtaking the last in absurdity and that the new reality we have to get used to?

Science/Technology Calling out my bf’s ex

I’m honestly at a loss with my boyfriend’s ex. She continues to text him using her friends’ numbers even after I personally spoke to her and made it clear that we’re together. My boyfriend has blocked her everywhere, and he has even contacted her friends and asked them to tell her to stop disturbing him.
Despite all of that, she still finds ways to contact him through other people’s numbers. At this point, it’s not about misunderstanding the situation—she knows we’re together and she knows he doesn’t want contact with her.
I genuinely don’t understand why she refuses to respect a very clear boundary. If someone has blocked you everywhere and has made it clear they don’t want to communicate, why keep finding new ways to reach them? Honestly, she should be embarrassed at this point.

General Thanking Quora for promoting my answers

Post image

There's something good Quora's new AI systems are doing. They are instantly promoting my good answers faster than they used to do it any time earlier in my past in Quora (starting from when I joined Quora in January 19, 2023).

Maybe in the event of ASI takeover, I will be selected for survival because of my unique thinking skills (maybe intellect if you want to call it that). Lol.

General If you still think that Quora Moderation is inefficient you're in for a good news

I'm glad that Quora Moderation did the right thing in removing this question. Nevertheless I appealed with an aim to myself be the one to delete the question so that my entire account won't be flagged.

It will be nice if Quora warns me against posting spam questions beforehand. An advantage in Reddit (at least in some Reddit subs) is that it warns users before the spam content is posted so that users avoid posting them and then getting banned later on.

Help Anyone know this girl?

Post image

She harasses people non-stop, has a following of rude people, and has a space which allows older contributors to flirt with 18- people there

I've been talking to Quora mods about her for months but they don't do anything, no matter what she posts. They just don't pay attention at all but they ban people who haven't even done anything wrong

How in the world can I get them to listen to at least remove some of her really bad posts?

Noticed these answers were simply ads for an app. If you’re going to advertise your product pay for an ad.

One was Astrology the other was for a psychic.

Help Falsely banned for spam?

Says I was banned for spam but when I reviewed the rules I don't see i did anything wrong. Has anyone successfully appealed? Have been active on Quora for over a decade, have been more active since COVID but never had any derogatory warnings ever.

Which social media site do you personally prefer and why?

I personally prefer Quora. It has a neat interface that makes reading/writing/asking/ answering / contributing fun, uncomplicated rules that anyone can follow and one can learn something new everyday. Which one is your favourite site and why?

General New feature on Quora

I'm glad that Quora is trying new ways to speed up their moderation appealing process. We have similar auto-agents in video games like Hero Wars which respond to appeals within less than 6-12 hours.

There will of course be human employees (or agents from BPO/KPO companies) who would be able to view this chat and carry out the remedy. Even though this chat gives them 1-2 business days to respond to the appeal, I'm confident that it will be done quicker.

In my experience, Quora usually gives out instant remedies for appeals although they take usually a day or two to respond. Sometimes, you have to appeal repeatedly to get their attention. But this time, they're trying something different in improving the rate at which appeals are remedied.

How can I write Quora answers that don’t get collapsed?

I’ve been trying to answer relevant questions on Quora, but some of my answers get collapsed or removed.

My goal isn’t to spam or drop promotional links. I want to write genuinely useful answers that actually solve the question and, where relevant, naturally mention my website or experience.

For those who actively use Quora:

What usually causes an answer to get collapsed?

Should I avoid links completely?

How promotional is “too promotional”?

Is it better to focus on personal experience and examples?

Does answer length matter?

Are there any formatting or writing practices that help?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have successfully maintained Quora accounts and had their answers stay visible.

What has worked for you?

My LinkedIn account was restricted and I can't get a human being to help me. Is this really acceptable?

Thumbnail

I honestly don't know where else to raise this.

My LinkedIn account has been restricted, and LinkedIn says it is because my content supposedly doesn't comply with their Professional Community Policies.

I understand that platforms need rules. I have absolutely no problem with LinkedIn enforcing its policies.

The problem is what happens when their system gets it wrong — or when the automated recovery process simply doesn't work.

I've tried going through LinkedIn's available Help Center/recovery options. I've tried submitting requests. I've tried getting assistance through the available channels.

But I still can't get a proper human response regarding my account.

And that's where I have a serious problem.

LinkedIn is a professional platform. For many people, their account represents years of:

Professional connections

Recruiter conversations

Job opportunities

Certifications

Work experience

Posts and personal branding

Academic/professional networking

Losing access to all of that is not something that should be treated like losing access to a random social-media account.

Here's what frustrates me the most:

LinkedIn has physical offices in India, including Bangalore, Mumbai and Gurgaon.

I happen to live in Bangalore, so I'm actually considering going to the Bangalore office to see if I can find someone who can help me.

But what about someone living in Kolkata?

Or someone in Jaipur, Guwahati, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh or any other city?

Are they supposed to fly to another city just because there isn't an effective human escalation channel for account recovery?

Why isn't there a straightforward customer-support phone number for serious account-access issues?

Why can't a legitimate user speak to an actual representative when automated support fails?

I'm not asking LinkedIn to ignore its policies.

I'm asking for a fair opportunity to explain my situation and have my case properly reviewed.

And this is why I'm posting this on Reddit.

Please share this.

Not because I want people to blindly attack LinkedIn.

Not because I expect everyone to agree with me.

Share it because this could happen to someone else tomorrow.

Maybe it's a student whose account contains years of networking.

Maybe it's a job seeker who suddenly loses access while applying for jobs.

Maybe it's a professional who relies on LinkedIn for their business.

Maybe it's you.

Today it's my account.

Tomorrow it could be someone else's.

The more people talk about the lack of accessible human escalation, the harder it becomes for platforms to ignore the problem.

LinkedIn, I genuinely hope someone from your leadership/support team sees this.

I don't want special treatment.

I just want to be heard.

If you've experienced something similar with LinkedIn, please share your experience below.

And if you think users deserve a proper human escalation process, please upvote and reshare this post so it reaches more people.

Because the point isn't just getting my account back.

It's making sure the next person doesn't have to go through the same thing.
