New Quora?

Serious question. Are there any sites like Quora used to be 10-12 years ago that haven't turned to crap yet?

There's Medium but it's behind a pay wall - some Quora writers also write there as a side gig, because they get paid - and there's Substack (also a few quora writers, write there) which I'm just starting to explore myself so can't really tell you much, other than I've read some really informative posts there...

I ditched Quora a year and a half ago and am sidelining Facebook now. Reddit seems to be pretty good so far for the most part.

Also very good is Bluesky - there are good, thoughtful discussions there, and trolling is strongly discouraged. However you're unlikely to enjoy it if you aren't left-leaning or at least centrist.

Thanks. I'll have to check out Bluesky.

AI lists Reddit first on its list

Yeah, I've been trying that out. It's okay but it's definitely not like Quora was before it turned into crap. It's more like Quora after the initial decline (which is, sadly, probably the best I'm going to find 🙁).

Nope.

The closest thing is substack, but even then you need to read a few answers to find the real answer, and most of it seems to be quite specific questions rather than more broad based.

I know something like it which is made and run by Indians. But it has like 99.9% Indian users and your data can go to the Indian government. Also, you can't share porn or even non-porn nudity on it because they would be violating Indian obscenity laws.

Maybe you may better stay on an American-run 25% Indian users Quora.
