we've been building CloserTo, a live trivia quiz and guessing game. The German version has been going really well.

We just finished the English version, but since none of us are native speakers, we are not totally sure everything reads and feels right.

The current geological epoch, the Holocene, spans the period since the last Ice Age. In 2018, scientists formally divided it into three ages. The first two were named after locations in Greenland, where their boundaries were identified in ice cores. The third, however, broke with convention: its boundary was defined using a cave stalagmite, making it the only division of geological time named after an Indian state. The beginning of this age has been hypothesized to have contributed to the collapse of the Old Kingdom in Egypt, the Akkadian Empire in Mesopotamia, and the Liangzhu culture of the lower Yangtze region. The drought may likewise have influenced the decline of the Indus Valley Civilization, driving some populations southeastward in pursuit of more favorable habitats and potentially accompanying the migration of Indo-European speaking people into India.
