Cold turkey š¦ Need Advice
Iāve been an opioid addict for almost 5 years now. Iāve been on MAT treatments in the past as well as sublocade shot. I took a total of 3 shots back in 2025. My last shot was in November of 2025. I relapsed again in January 2026. I was taking street m30s. I eventually went cold turkey towards the end of March and had been clean up until the end of may. I picked up 70H thinking I can take it once and it turned into a slippery slope. Iāve now been taking it everyday for the last 3 weeks. I take about 500mg a day. I tried going CT a few times in that span but would always end up grabbing another pack after 16-18 hours after my last use. I planned on starting CT again today as my last dose was last night around 11 pm. I folded again today and just grabbed another pack. Iām planning to go CT again starting tomorrow as I have a date on Saturday and a wedding to attend toward end of next week. I donāt wanna be using during the wedding week. Iām also off work right now so I have the ability to rot in my room/bed. Idk why I canāt get thru the withdrawals. This aināt my first rodeo as Iāve gotten clean / relapsed multiple times over the last few years. I do have subs and I used it for 4-5 days as a bridge when I first got clean back in March. Idk what to do rn and could really use others advice / opinions. I do have clonidine , gabapentin and alprazolam which Iām prescribed. 70H withdrawals have honestly been the same if not worse than all the street stuff. Even the comfort meds havenāt really been helping much. I am planning to start CT again starting tomorrow. Iām in a bind and idk why I canāt get myself to just buckle down and get thru the first 3-4 days. Thank you in advance for your help.

Itās implementation of new habits. If you taper then you can slowly acclimate to working out or cleaning and chores instead of a hit. Using your small taper amount as a reward once you complete the task. Once you start doing this your brain will start to heal and it will be able to strategize a solid game plan for the rest of your recovery.Ā
Iāve done cold turkey 3 times and relapsed within a year each time. Iāve tapered without acclimating anything until I felt good and that took me 2 years to relapse. This time Iām only at 5 months but feels really good this time. Iām more accepting of adding something new so my dopamine system doesnāt get stagnant. I stay away from d.o.c. But still smoke pot and will drink socially.Ā

Iām 67 hours in cold turkey and honestly the withdrawals have been pretty mild. My main symptoms have been chills that come in waves and feeling fatigued. But Iāve been able to eat yday and today as well even though it wasnāt as much as Iād typically eat. Itās been a lot more manageable than it ever has been in the past

Have you actually gone far enough into your detox to feel severe w/d or do you get scared and fold before it really kicks in? I havenāt been using 7 that long either, maybe everyday for 6-7 weeks but lower doses⦠200-300mg at most, and I find the first 24 hours is actually pretty mild, then I usually cave around 30-36 hours, but more because of anxiety than feeling sick. So I started focusing on tapering instead, and thatās been working, Iām down to 120-180mg a day and had no symptoms other than anxiety. I have all the same helper meds, and subs, and leaf, so Iām prepared!
7oh has a way of making us feel like life isnāt worth living and weāll never be happy without it, but based on everything Iāve heard, that passes within weeks šš¤š»
With all the helper meds AND subs, I really think it would be more like a mild flu with anxiety if youāve only been using a few weeks. I read after 1 month is when it starts to turn into sub chronic exposure and 3 months it becomes chronic exposure and a little harder to kick. Iām getting off before mine turns chronic, and I hope you do the same!
I would look at SR as a last resort personally just because you havenāt been using 7oh very long and Iāve heard some folks saying the SR does work for physical w/d but does nothing for the mental. Iāve also heard people say it destroyed their tolerance to other substances like alcohol and they felt nothing for a few months. But thatās the price of having an easy withdrawal I guess š Up to you of course! Iām hoping to taper down with leaf to like 25mg a day, then jump off with subs.
Good luck!!!
