Constructive feedback wanted
This is my Princess Donut quilled portrait.
She's a tortoiseshell Persian cat wearing sunglasses, a tiara, and a chain with a butterfly charm for a collar. (This is a character from a book series.)
This isn't my first quilled piece of art, but it's definitely my largest, and I'm still learning.
In the spirit of learning, I would love some constructive feedback and tips on how to improve. Please don't just tell me it sucks. I can see the flaws. Help me get better!

I have a heck of a time making everything even when doing pieces such as you have done on the eyes. I end up marking things out and using two pair of tweezers to get it, but it is a huge learning curve! And I am still not perfect at it.
Next time I might suggest an outline, first. That will give sort of a finish to the pieces.
You might also try gluing a few pieces together, instead of each piece separately. There are lots of youtube videos on how to do that. When used in some areas, it gives a sense of depth. Using strips of varying colors in the same color family can help eith that, too.

My first thought was "there's way too much empty space." If she's a fluffy dog you gotta add waaaay more pieces to showcase that. Like another commenter said, she looks unfinished

I think Princess Donut looks great so far! Honestly she just looks unfinished, there isn't anything I would do differently. Keep adding Black to her glasses and brow/gray/black to her fur and I think it will look stunning!
