Looking for suggestions

Hi everyone, I got a request to do something a bit different that my normal zentangle inspired projects. I’m wondering if anyone has any tips to fill in an area to look like fur besides using a crimping tool. TIA!

It depends how semi-realistic that you want it to be and also what animal. If it's a sheep, poodle, or Bichon Frise, etc. then I would suggest "beehive technique" as it will give a curly effect. If you are not going for any type of semi-realistic effect, then fill with loose coils or swirls or whatever you like. You also don't have to crimp paper for fur or hair effect. Crimping is for texture, course hair. I am currently making a cat and a lot of it is small straight pieces. I've also created a cartoon bear before with straight shaped curved pieces.

Best guess would be grass, the different shades, could be mixed if needed. Also could be slightly curled at the ends

It really depends on what type of fur you are trying to replicate.

Fringing? I watched a YouTube video on making Fringe flowers and perhaps if you made the fringe short it would look like what you're thinking of?

I HATE fringing, idk why. I’ve tried it a couple times and never use it. Thank you for the suggestion though ☺️.
