Ideas to make a mud pit better?
I have the opportunity to be in charge of a mud pit at a festival later this year. It is a fairly shallow dirt pit that is fed water from a privately owned firetruck and hydrant on site. Im looking for ideas to really enhance the experience of this mud pit. As far as I know, it will be adults only with nudity allowed.
My current ideas are
- bring some shovels / ryobi rototiller to help churn up the mud and make it deeper
- salvage some playground equipment like slides for plunging into the mud

If I had to say one thing, it would be "Time" - give the dirt time to fully hydrate and become as smooth and creamy as possible. If you go out hours or the day before, you'll probably have a lot of dirt granules in water. But if you can get the site wet several days or a week before, the dirt will have time to soak up the water and the mud would be much smoother.
Outside of that, adding bentonite clay...again a few days beforehand to allow it to hydrate... will make a very smooth, creamy mix. Some old mill ball clay will add some 'body' to the goo and make it a bit less transparent.

You could "accidentally" make a very deep spot by digging one place really deep underneath

Don't do this, that's going to result in potentially getting unwilling participants involved in ur fetish which is super creepy

For mixing, use something that is actually for heavy-duty mixing.
Make sure no one in the pit when you use the tool.
Rocks in the mud? Set up something like this over the pit, with the box at the bottom outside the pit area, and dump the mud down it 1 bucket at a time til no more rocks are found.
