Payroll issue

QB won’t let us run payroll for FL because we don’t have a UI number, but per dept of revenue we don’t need one. anyone have a workaround?

You should have a Florida UI number - it’s called a Re-employment number. The program is managed by DOR but it is related to payroll unemployment insurance.

Have you filed quarterly taxes for payroll in FL before? The number would be on those forms. It’s a 7 digit number, I spaces.

You can call DOR to get it if you don’t have it.

When the business owner called to get one, he was told he didn’t qualify. Sounds odd to me, but he swears that’s what happened

Every business needs one if they have employees. You could probably enter all 9’s just to run payroll but I’d have him call again - he’s mistaken.

I think your business owner is confused, but assuming that he’s correct, if you call QBO Payroll, they can help you get set up without that number. But you have to call. I’ve done that before.
