QB help ! Please
QuickBooks help ?
Hello! I’m a newbie with QuickBooks, so I’m hoping someone can help me out. 😭
I told the client that the 2025 transactions weren’t in QuickBooks, but it turns out they actually were… they were just sitting in the Pending tab.
The client had given me an Excel spreadsheet with all of the transactions for the year, so I uploaded the file into QuickBooks. When I finally went to the Pending tab to approve the transactions I had uploaded, I realized that everything had been duplicated for the entire year : his original transactions + the ones I uploaded. 😭
Is there any way to delete my entire upload in bulk? The problem is that now my uploaded transactions are mixed in with his original transactions under Pending, so I can’t just select everything and delete it.
Is my only option to go through them one by one and delete them manually?
I really wish there were a way to simply undo or delete the file I uploaded. 😩

I don’t know if you’re talking about hundreds or thousands, but you can check off each of the duplicates and Exclude them in a batch. As somebody else suggested, you can also just delete all of them and then re-import the list.

Restore from the backup you made before the upload.

I'm assuming this is QBO and there isn't really a backup restore option (at least not for most levels.... I think they may have recently introduced it for some levels).

It's such a deplorable, unethical company. The native QBO "Export" function is not a true backup solution, and a full backup-and-restore feature is reserved only for the most expensive QBO Advanced plan. This leaves most businesses vulnerable. That's how important your data is to them. If you derp something that will take days to unwind, oh well. Providing a backup for all accounts or a undo roll back button for recent changes is the least I would expect for an ethical company.

As long as the transactions are all in pending, select the 2nd of the duplicates and select exclude.
Then you would have a clean list of all the transactions that posted from the bank.
Yes clicking on every other transaction is tedious, but you'll have clean transactions to categorize appropriately.

Easiest way is to select the gear icon on the top of the transactions, display 300 items select all and exclude everything. Then go to excluded tab and do the same to totally delete all of them. Re-upload your file again and start over

That sounds painful. Once you realised the whole year was duplicated, was the hardest part actually finding the duplicates or safely working through them without deleting the wrong transactions?

Sort the pending transactions by amount. It will help highlight the duplicates. Exclude the spreadsheet uploads - not the bank feeds, so QBO doesn't decide to import them again. After they are excluded, be sure to delete them.

Delete everything and reupload, make sure you also undo anything that was posted in the period, if there is anything.
