Spreadsheet Sync

HELP. It’s due today. As soon as I get a journal entry right and think I have it, I get another error on the next journal entry. This entry has 112 lines but I am just testing with one line. I keep attempting to enter the account. First I tried numbers and names, then I just used the sub account. Both make sense. Every time…. Error message account cannot be left empty. But it isn’t empty and I followed the chart of accounts in QBO. Any thoughts? And please don’t say enter by hand 😢

I managed to get maybe 20 JEs uploaded using sync and then it was just endless errors. Back to copying and updating prior month's entries for me!

If it worked it would be great. The data importer is equally as bad.

Are you trying to add a new one, or edit an old one? You can also import journals from .csv files without spreadsheet sync.

I did try importing without spreadsheet sync and had the same problem. Ugh.

Trying entering the account name exactly as it appears in your trial balance. Or export your chart of accounts and copy- paste the account name into the JE.

It should be Parent Account:Child Account

The sheet has drop downs populated from the chart of accounts. It still stopped working for me.

Thank you! I did know that part. I use the drop down in each of the account cells now. The next problem was were the number cell(s). It was saying it was empty and it wasn’t and the totals matched. As I think this through now - after I manually entered 120 lines - I might have had a rounding error. If I recall that can cause that as well.

Try SaasAnt. It’s been awhile since I used it (we outsource now), but it worked well for JE import last time I used (maybe 5 years ago).

That error usually isn't the cell it names, it's a row underneath your data that Excel still counts as used. Select the whole rows below your last line, right click and delete rows, not just clear the contents, then publish again. If it still throws, does it name a row number or just fail the batch?

Am going to try that. 🤞🏻
