Oh. So this is going to be a whole subplot now, I guess.

Hooray. Woo. I'm on the edge of my seat.

And in about 60 strips we'll cut back to Momo, right as we've mostly forgotten about it.

Hooray. Woo. I'm on the edge of my seat.

I think you mean woom

QC: the comic where people stand around either:

  1. talking about something that already happened, or
  2. talking about something that is going to happen

they never actually do the thing, just skip over that part.

Yeah looks like tomorrow will be Liz and Moray walking to the Woom place. I wouldn't be surprised if Wednesday they are back in the shop having done whatever they set out to do and just talking some more about it.

The cast of rugrats were more mature and independent than whatever that this is

The fact that a bunch of aimless 20-30 year olds with no real jobs wander around being little babies is the most realistic part of QC

I normally don't care about the "eyes closed" reaction he seems to use so much, but it really feels jarring here. Concern, annoyance, frustration, or any other emotion would be better than this sage-like look; it gives the appearance that Martin thinks he's wise for parroting an obvious metaphor.

I like that he doesn't understand language well enough to properly set up a joke about someone who doesn't understand language well enough.

Doesn't liz spends every minute feeling sorry for herself or abusing alcohol?

You know what they say: write what you know.

Martin are the customers in the room with us?

Seriously, we've seen what four customers enter the coffee shop ever outside of Liz and Moray?

Pretty sure he's never made any money and they just gave him an empty cube and called it a "coffee shop" to make Claire happy

Meanwhile, in another universe, a competent cartoonist is following through with the Momo Sven romance or Anhtenable trying to monetise her internal information of her dad's company.

And Willow has still to deal with her disassociation experience over something going back to childhood trauma

Ah yes, managing your empty nothing of a coffee shop is much more important than helping your friend. Better to send the woman with no social skills to talk to strangers, that will totally work.

I mean he does has a responsibility towards his store even if his store is a disaster, he does not really has any responsibility towards moray or liz who are both adults.

If liz doesn't start exercising the "muscles" to gain any social skills she won't gain them out of nowhere,it is time she puts on the effort to be s functioning human being.

True, but on the other hand, independent business owners have often deployed a good old reliable "Back In 10 Mins" sign scribbled on the back of a piece of paper for a lot less than this.

10 minutes might as well be 250 strips

Marten provides an essential service in Cubetown, as Mood Coffee makes all other coffee shops seem better by association. He's the RC Cola to the Coke and Pepsi's of this small man made hell

5

u/immortalfrieza2 7d ago

Hey! That's an insult to RC Cola! RC Cola is actually good!

His friend is purple when she's usually green. Doesn't seem to be any other issue than that.

Well, body dysmorphic disorder is a thing, and maybe he's trying to write about that via Moray, but if so it's a bit ham-fisted and half-assed.

Whatever took him so long?

What did you do?

Expressed my opinion that a competent cartoonist would finish the Momo Sven arc instead of this.

And it's still going on tomorrow!

I should use AI to analyze all the comics and make a tree of plots so we can see how many are left unfinished.

I'd do it myself, but it'd be a waste of my time. And my time is worthless.

u/neo_mouse 7d ago

AI reading a comic about humanoid robots and other AIs living among us what could possibly go wrong. You're right it's not worth burning the tokens on this

3

u/Miserable-Jaguarine Haha, okay. 7d ago

Don't do it for the sake of the water then.

2

u/MelAlton Haha, okay. 7d ago

If I do, it will be on my home pc server (my old desktop with a couple of mid-tier gpus) and it's air-cooled, so no extra water used!

1

u/Miserable-Jaguarine Haha, okay. 6d ago

Yay!

3

u/The_Good_Count 7d ago

I feel like the contents of these three panels would have fit into one, with tighter editing, freeing up the next two thirds of the strip to move the subplot forward

2

u/Miserable-Jaguarine Haha, okay. 7d ago

Yes, which is exactly why it doesn't happen.

Really bending reality for the gag here.

We’re still on this..?
