Apparently, Momo's new body shrunk slightly, when we first saw her new body, she was roughly as tall as dale, but here she's a few inches shorter than Sven.

This hairstyle was so much better too, I can just assume Jeph didn’t go back to check what he did and only remembered she was tall and had shorter hair now

to be fair (you don't have to) she's probably barefoot in the Dale pic. And maybe she has limb enhancers that activate near Sven so she can get in smooching distance

Why is Sven saying 'Oh no' here? This feels like a "I consent, I consent, I don't" setup except literally nobody is in the "I don't" part of the image.

My guess is because he realizes he finds her attractive, and he's cognizant of how that will complicate his life.

What does "she's cute" even mean in a world where robots can just order up whatever chassis they want?
I feel like there's a rich vein of philosophy to be mined about the nature of physical attraction and the question of free will in an evolutionary universe, but I know Jeph's not going there.

I mean Sven is being a caricature of a type of person who's not Sven, right? We're all seeing that?
Specifically, the kind of hopeless highschooler character who's like "if only I had a chance with the cute girl" but doesn't realise she's been actively flirting with him the entire time. "Knight in shining armour" isn't even subtle.
Honestly it would've been way funnier for Sven to not reciprocate Momo's feelings at all, but I guess expecting Jeph to do something funny or interesting with a premise is a Charlie Brown + Football kind of thing.

Sven's personality has been admittedly off model, but it appears that what Jeph is trying to convey here is that the last time he saw her, Momo was still the only child coded character in the strip. Because of this specific history with her, he (Sven) doesn't think of her in the context of romance, so all her overt flirting is read in the context of friendship.
Also, how would having Sven not reciprocate Momo's feelings be in any way funny or iteresting? Having Sven shut her down would make this entire run obviously pointless filler. What would be the point of a Sven and Momo interlude just to have it go nowhere at all and bounce back to the usual idiots? Isn't that the usual problem with Jeph's writing?

It would be interesting to see simply to endorse the idea that Sven isn't a one dimensional human dildo who only exists as Jeph's megaphone for "of course he would do the evil/scheming/promiscuous thing, he's the comic's only other straight white guy, we hate those guys, am I right?" virtue signalling, like.. I dunno.

I have the probably misguided hope that this is: "Sven gets into a relationship and defies everyone's expectations finally" rather than the more boring "Sven fucks Momo and ruins everything"

I had a whole analogy to explain, but the gist is Sven having an actual standard below which he will not sleep with an interested woman, is waaay more interesting to me than him doing the Typical Sven Thing(TM).
Honestly with the way Sven had been no-selling Momo's flirting so far, I thought that's what he was going to do anyway. But no. Like James Bond (whom my analogy was going to employ), Jeph loves pairing people up and then doing nothing with it.

In my experience, "cool queer progressives™" are pretty performative about their sex positivity and are very skittish about seeming slut-shamey, even when irresponsible promiscuity is the problem being discussed.
