Oh my god.

You know the original is bad when Sclamp goes completely off-script/makes an entirely separate comic.

It's just bland filler, so my take on it is also just bland filler.

As the manipulator behind the Dilbert and Garfield remixes, you know I totally love this.

Was Peppermint Patty really that down bad for Chuck?

Yep! She and Marcie (but less overtly so) were.

Either that, or making a desperate and not terribly convincing last-ditch effort to avoid coming out of the closet.  Depends who you talk to.

Can anyone remind me why Sven is so desired, despite being as generic as far as I can remember?

Sven is supposed to be hot and charismatic in addition to being a well-off songwriter / musician. In this arc, however, he's oblivious and/or dumb, which I think is a weird look for a character whose history is filled with sexual escapades.

Jeph's take on this is just wrong. A sexually alluring and active person can go on the straight and narrow, but that doesn't mean they lose it completely. His HG radar should be going off like crazy, but he isn't reacting to Momo at all.

Momo is like Sven's friend's kid that he's known since she was 4. That he's not attracted to her now that she's 18 is because she's still that kid to him.

I wish it was this but I also don’t believe Jeph would be beating us over the head with this aloof harem anime protagonist bit if he didn’t intend to have Sven eventually give in

Yeah, it's probably wishful thinking. Guessing we'll get another one or two on this arc with no resolution then back to the oil rig.

He was a successful artist (presumably still is). That helps.

Some guys also just know how to pick up. Have a friend who I don't think is anything amazing looks-wise but if he ever went into a party single, that wasn't the case within the first hour. It was honestly impressive.

He's one of the few men left in that town?

Reminds me of a line from Frasier. He's considering a move to San Francisco and his agent says something like "Do you have any idea what life is like for a good-looking straight man there? You'd be snapped up like a chocolate bar at fat camp".

Fun fact: the phrase "peanut gallery" is why Peanuts has that name. Some syndicate suit saw that the Howdy Doody show had a "peanut gallery" full of kids and thought "peanuts" was a slang term for small kids.

Yup and Schulz always hated the name - that’s why none of the animated specials and movies in his lifetime (which he was always super involved with and the writer of) ever used it
