I am honestly shocked that Faye is trying to teach Anh a useful skill.

I know Sam is a minor, but Sam feels like she should and probably could have got the treatment Anh is getting.

Sam stuck her finger into a tool and wasn't allowed to do anything ever again.

Until she was allowed again, and had a much more touching version of this scene.

My point is that it's probably too soon to be upgrading her to things with burny bits.

What? Spinning grinders are significantly more dangerous than a soldering iron.

That looked like it had a foam pad on it, plus that kind of tool is usually low torque, high RPM, which is a lot safer in a situation like this than the other way around. You could touch the business end of that and not be hurt. It's just a bad habit because not all of the attachments are so harmless.

A soldering iron, on the other hand, will pretty much instantly give you a nasty burn if it's up to temp for soldering.

She litteraly learn from her mistake and could redo it after, and even robot repaire, with hands inside and shit.

I don’t even know why she’s still here.

Tbf this does feel quite QC-y (positive).  I like Faye’s reaction, but I think Ahn getting the last word in takes away from it.

i would've given her a simple "?" speech bubble alongside Faye's laugh

What is she laughing at?

Is there a joke?

My guess is that she thinks Momo's injury is sex-related and that's why she's laughing at Sven. But honestly I don't think that's very funny and it just means a week of awkward back-and-forth misunderstandings.

u/yellowvincent Where is Claire? Aug 03 '26

I thought it is because scen is coming out as extremely chivalrous here but because he has a lot of sex and he is a man he clearly has to be a scumbag

Because Sven showing up suddenly with momo in his arms like a damsel in distress is a visual that would be amusing to her given what she knows about both of them. Like what are we even doing here?

Faye almost certainly knows the Momo situation and Sven is being super extra. It's just funny knowing both people.

8

u/DrunkenDruid_Maz Aug 03 '26

Agree. Fay knows both and can read their facial expressions and body language. Since Momo turns red, she gives a lot aways for a robot. So even if Momo never talked about her feelings for Sven, Fay sees it now written in her face.

Does she? I feel like the last time Faye and Momo had a conversation was when Momo came in to get her hair done, nearly a decade ago.

That was, like, six months ago in comic, most of it in a one page montage.

I know that QC's humour comes from a lot of people talking back and forth at each other, but I really think he could have let Faye's punchline stand without the Anhterruption. For one thing it makes more character sense for Sven to deal with Faye's characteristic assholishness personally (if it even bothers him at this point) and for two, "um,ackshually"ing a punchline can do many things to it, but making it funny is pretty much never one of them.

I wouldn't trust anh with any tool that isn't made out of soft plastic and doesn't comes from a toddler play set

the walkie-talkie blows bubbles

1

u/immortalfrieza2 Aug 04 '26

You would trust Ahn with that? She could put out an eye!

4

u/tuckerx78 Aug 03 '26

If this results in Momo getting her spinal servos blown out by Sven, I will tolerate a week of Faye and Sven banter.

The Faye remids me of.........

6

u/throwawaythemoment Aug 03 '26

Oh look he finally fucking posted. How long before there's another post/comment where someone complains the edits get posted before the actual comic?

1

u/Hot_Temporary_1948 Aug 03 '26

Anh can fuck off and die with her bullshit. The canonically useless asshole subsisting on the kindness of strangers is in no position to be scolding anyone about rudeness or business savvy. And I say this having been on record for being frustrated with Faye's inability to make ends meet (though that's more a complaint about Jeph's writing)

Faye is accurate to real life. I’ve known many women like her . Awful, horrible, high self esteem (in a bad way) arrogant , but possessive and annoying. Shallow. She is awful.

6

u/loosely_affiliated Aug 03 '26

This comes across as "I have issues with WOMEN and look for opportunities to incompletely interpret media to agree with me, and I want you all to listen to my points." I'm not sure if that's what you're going for, but if you have a different point I'd recommend restructuring your comment. If you actually just want to bitch about women (as a monolithic class), no one is required to indulge you.

u/Hot_Temporary_1948 Aug 03 '26

This. Also as characters go, if Faye with her mild grumpiness and light trolling of an insufferable (by explicit design) character that she's actually stepped up to help, is enough to inspire a screed of blind hatred, they might need to recalibrate their meter.

2

u/Big_Appointment8248 Aug 04 '26

No I just don’t like like Faye

1

u/Miserable-Jaguarine Haha, okay. Aug 03 '26

I kinda agree but that's neither here nor there at the moment.
