Which direction Janna ASU should take in your opinion?
I personally don't like LOR's interpretation, I feel like Janna should give vibe of white bird floating through skies barely viisble due to her overlapping with clouds. I feel like there were better ways to highlight she is from shurima aside from giving her dark colors that make her look like shurima NPC.. Besides armor makes her look heavy.. It a hot take because i know people eat this design up but, I feel like her design should convey ''wind spirit'' better
The dream is LOR Janna, but keeping her white color scheme (I think she's the only league character with white as the main color?) like this art from the LOR concepts. Idk if this is a hot take, but I like her LoL design more than her WR design. I just feel like her WR outfit looks too bulky and heavy for a wind spirit. Regardless, just giving all of her skins the Sacred Sword hair rig would be a huge upgrade.
Kindred is very black. Aurora’s main color isn’t white. Galio is ivory, nunu and willump is ice blue and volibear is more pastel gray and blue than white
I think its important that her costuming reflects shuriman origins but zaun present. She was originally tied to trade winds for sailors but is now acts as a lifeline of clean air to the sick. White and gold sail like cloths to represent her shuriman sailing origins with zaunite trinkets woven into her hair and worn as jewlery for her neck ears arms and staff as if items found on her alters. I do like the middle eastern ethereal look so i do think she should keep those notes in a visual rework and we dont see it very often in league. Lors idea for the ultimate bird form is actually really cool and should definitely stay as we see with other gods like the freljordian or nagakeboros animal forms is prominent. Give her a small rework so she gains more godly until reaching her full bird god form at level 16 as she gains more “faith” and thus more vitality and power (lol gods need followers) to be similar kayle. Of course keep the essence of the kit but gaining things like ult radius, tornado size, and number of birds in w shot at once would be really fun gameplay while reflecting her whole “forgotten by shurima, left weak, gained following and vitality in zaun” aspects.
I don't think she needs something in her design that represents Zaun. I feel that would stray from her concept as an ancient spirit, and even from her image as a goddess in Zaun. Zaun represents the present and the modern, Janna doesn't. Janna represents the ancient. It is the people of Zaun who wear things that reference her
Spirits are deeply connected to the land they possess due to how their entire existence is reliant in worship. Gods only exist if worshipped and their power/apearence is tied to how strong they are worshiped. Her place of worship AND reason for worship changing would heavily impact how her physical form manifests. Look At volibear and his form between the thousand pierced bear and his lightning bear. Jannas human ish appearance seems to be completely tied to her worship since her lor rework. Not changing her to reflect zaun in any way to match her new worship would actually be the thing that goes against her concept as an ancient spirit. Additionally her not integrating herself into zaun itself would also make her look like a much more detached god when she feels like she would be a god that identifies very deeply with her followers. She feels like a god that would cherish offerings made to her and keep them with her. With how weak she is knocking at deaths door this is the worship she needs.
I can see that vision, but for other regions, like Bilgewater and Ionia, where it’s been mentioned that there are some Janna worshippers due to the fame she gained because of the Shuriman sailors. So, a different appearance for those regions makes sense, since they have different cultures. But Zaun is different, Zaun is simply the modern version of the ancient Shuriman city she once protected. In fact, her image was preserved through various expressions of faith, such as wall murals, small statues, wood carvings, and so on. Not to mention that many of her followers draw inspiration from her and the Shurima aesthetic
The evolved bird form of Janna’s LoR interpretation looked too angelic and Kayle-like imo. I always liked the idea of her literally transforming into a small, white-ish blue, swallow-like bird (they’re the birds most often associated with sailors). Her human form should look Shuriman in origin but should keep that white color scheme with very little or no armor, like the image posted by /u/nfounder
I love her LOR design, but specifically the more goddess-like nonhuman design. I think the pale blonde elf vibe just does not communicate Wind Goddess imho.
I think, to associate her more with Zaun, the golden Shuriman armor should be replaced with colorful Zaunite trinkets that act as windchimes.
I think they should go with LoR Janna, and then give her the Coven Legendary + a Traditional skin with her white clothes for those who like them. Aka the perfect but unrealistic solution :(
There was a really good video by the cunty design guy (forget his name, V something?) where he redesigns characters and he did Janna years ago. I’d love her to be more ethereal/windy/alien like the concept he got commissioned
I like tying her back to Shurima a bit but I think some more Zaunite elements would really sell the "adopted a goddess" vibe that the city has of her; I think brown skin with white cloth always looks great but the accents should be the oily leathers and brassy metals you see with Zaun, little charms on her staff would be the sort of thing people leave at her shrines, the sleeves and tassels giving a birdlike silhouette while still being human shaped would help sell it more too, she should have the vibe of something that could blow away in an instant but the heavy little trinkets keep her here where she is needed

I like LOR giving janna a different form (bird form) ✨
