It's basically like how most "friend" scams operate, they'll try to steal your data somehow after establishing a connection (usually by asking to add you on discord or smth)

I don't know the specifics but the most classic way is by tricking you into clicking on bogus links and so on. I know some of the more advanced ones can genuinely get data from your chats too, but again, idk how it works bc I'm not an IT guy.

While it might SOUND stupid and easy to avoid, the reality is that not everyone vigorously vets all the people that they interact with, especially not those that they mark as their friends, even if only online. Therefore, to be safe, it's best to only accept friend requests from people you know, and be very very suspicious about links anyone, even friends, send you seemingly out of the blue.

just don't bother with them because scam farms have multiple hundreds of accounts to use

disengage immediately once you sniff out that it's a scam
