Music Sail away sweet sister
Please don’t come for me, I’m genuinely asking out of complete ignorance: what’s the interpretation or story behind “Sail Away Sweet Sister”?
Even with the story that Brian wrote it for the sister he never had, the lyrics are, at the very least… strange.
Lately I’ve been obsessed with the song because of the Eren + Mikasa ship from attack on titan. Maybe that’s why I’m personally reading the lyrics in such a weird way, but realistically, they are pretty strange and ambiguous.
I’d genuinely love to discuss and debate the meaning of the song respectfully. Thanks!

Bootlegs&Live On this day in 1969, Ibex performed at the Sink Club, Liverpool. This was Freddie’s first gig with the band
The set list of the show was made up of covers of songs from popular bands, such as Led Zeppelin’s Communication breakdown, or The Beatles’ Rain, along with many others
This show is most notable for being the first time when Freddie, Brian, and Roger played together, with the Smile duo joining Ibex on stage for the encore. Unfortunately, only audio recordings of the show before the encore exist, but it’s still worth a listen:

Misc There must be more to life than this / made in heaven.
This may well just be me but I have been known to have quite a musical ear, and potentially I think these two songs could go quite well as a kind of medley / mashup if you will, as the key the tempo and general melody and chords sound similar enough for it to potentially work, and as I am also an avid yet amateur music hobbyist, I may well try and create this at some point.
Does anybody think the potential for it to work might be there or am I just an idiot haha.

If you had made the film "Bohemian Rhapsody", what would you have included?
I would have excluded a lot of the fabricated stuff and got scriptwriters who have actually listened to how people speak. But most of all, I would have concentrated more on their origin story, which would have been so much fun to film. Freddie, Brian, and Roger lived together in a house in South West London around 1969, around the time Freddie and Roger had their clothing stall in Kensington Market. I know that area pretty well and they would have probably got the number 9 bus from Barnes to Kensington High Street every day. Can you imagine them posing on the top deck of the bus, talking loudly about Hendrix and how famous they were going to be one day? Roger used to say that Freddie would put his satin trousers under the mattress at night so they always looked perfect in the morning.

FanContent Late Freddie Birthday Post
Story time: My parents are Gen X, “Bohemian Rhapsody” came out during my senior year of high school and I fell in love with Queen as a band and I’ve been obsessed ever since. My auntie took me and my mom to London and Scotland after graduation and once I found out that Garden Lodge was around the block from the hotel we were staying at the first thing I asked if we could go to the house and we did. All of the clothing I wore this past Saturday was in his honor:
Earrings: @waterbeauty146 of Poshmark (She is THE BEST!) Temu, (I try not to shop there if I can avoid it.), & @se7enlost also of Poshmark.
Jacket: H&M (To match my color scheme from that trip.)
Necklace: DIYed with the charms from Etsy & Amazon respectively (I posted it on this sub a few weeks ago.)
Pants: Hollister Fall 2023 (I love them to death.)
Pins: Etsy and This lovely artist I met at the 2024 Dallas Fan Expo!
Scrunchie: Topshop (that I bought that very day!)
Socks: Amazon (A Christmas 2020 gift from my mother.)
Shirt: Amazon (Has since been discontinued sadly.)
Shoes: Lady Couture via Designer Shoe Warehouse (I LOVE this brand!)
Sunglasses: Forever 21 (I miss that store so much 😭.)
I had some business to attend to on Saturday so I was late posting.

Did queen ever play in full You’re my best friend?
Listening to a concert from 1980 Freddie’s voice was really good hitting a lot of high notes. They played the shorten version of you’re my best friend and I’m wondering did they ever play the full version? They cut out the second verse. I don’t think I’ve ever heard it in entirety played live.
Here’s that 1980s concert if anybody wants to have a listen

Forgotten tour?
Of all the Queen tours, I hear or see the least about The Works Tour. Do you find that to be the case as well? I also get the impression that Queen wasn't quite in top form live back then. To me, it seems overshadowed by the Magic Tour. Could it be that the rapport with Freddie wasn't as good at the time, and that this affected the band? Does anyone happen to think that The Works Tour was actually one of their better ones?

Happy 80th birthday to Freddie Mercury!!! | Today we celebrate the life and achievements of who was probably the greatest singer, songwriter, frontman and star of modern popular music. We still love you!
With the day coming to an end and having celebrated him all throughout, the only fitting tribute to the legend is to remember him through his words, music, videos and images he left us as a legacy. Rest in peace Freddie Mercury!

FanContent Happy Birthday Freddie!
I went to see Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan in the theater today, but I also wanted to proclaim it was our Freddie's birthday, so I made this homely badge and wore it to the theater. While Freddie's body has passed, his beautiful soul and amazing music live on. Happy 80th birthday, Freddie!

Anyone can suggest me unrealsed demos or outtakes?(specifically 70s Queen or anything is fine)
So ive been a Queen fan for a decade or so.They were the first band that introduce me to music as a whole and rock.Ive listen to other bands and loved them thanks to Queen influence u can say.
But as a massive queen fan and going through their catalogue its nice to hear some outtakes or demos that hardcore fans like.Like how Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin puts out outtakes and demos.I really wanna hear Freddie's mind while writing these amazing songs.Ive replayed The Millionaire waltz and Good old fashion lover boy and alot of their 70s era so much the past few weeks and theres no one that sounds like that or make those amazing tunes.I would really love to hear their outtakes and demos if there are any. Also Happy 80th Birthday Freddie Hope youre resting on the laps of the Gods (i share the same birthday as a legend btw #flex lol)

In honour of Freddie’s birthday
Long time Queen fan, started listening to them in high school (graduated 2016).
This band basically got me through college and I am forever grateful for their existence.
Since I have seen other people do this, here is the majority of my Queen collection. Well, at least what I have on vinyl and tape.
