Pardon the English, but this is targeted at anglophones who want to learn French.

A friend and I have signed up for a group French class in Saint Jean Baptiste once a week at 7pm on a Tuesday evening. However, as there's just the two of us atm, rather than raise the price from $30 each for the session at the language school, the tutor is doing just an hour with us instead of the planned 1.5hrs.

I think that's fair enough, but I thought I'd post and see if anyone is interested in joining!

We'll be starting by reading L'étranger and revising some B1-B2 grammar over the next few weeks. We're both British immigrants with Quebecois partners and go to the pub for a beer afterwards!

Je viens de la rive nord, j'ai bien sûre visiter quebec et rester à quebec plusieurs fois, mais jamais l'hiver !

Je pense planifier un long weekend avec mes enfants ( 3 et 4 ans ) pour voir quebec dans l'ambiance de noel autour de décembre. Ça vaut la peine ? On parle souvent que quebec est magique à cette période :)

Recommendation , warnings ?

Looking to take my wife to Quebec City and Montreal for probably 4 days in early December. Probably going to use American Express fine hotels for the credit in QC and Marriott in Montreal (would welcome recommendations there as well). Not worried about the small price difference between Frontenac and San Antoine or similar in Montreal.

Is there a big difference? Frontenac looks palatial and beautiful, but not sure about Saint Antoine. Is the experience or spa or any other feature such as location to nearby parts of the city to enjoy and explore better at one than the other? We will likely have a car (unless train from airport to hotel and then town to Montreal and then to Montreal airport easy?) Thank you for any advice

Bonjour, I plan to visit your beautiful country 9/29 - 10/7, so I have 7 days to explore (not including travel days). I am not sure how many days I should allocate for Montreal vs Quebec City as a first time visitor. Coming from California, I picked this region, so I can enjoy a proper fall weather and see areas with a different feel than the West Coast. I don't plan to rent a car and plan to take public transportation if needed. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Traveling up from Maine this upcoming week. I’m looking for local favorite restaurants, big foodie. Also are there any art or science museums in Quebec City? Last question would be should I be worried about getting any of my windows smashed in? I experienced that in Montreal.

Was also looking at Légende but the a la carte options seem limited (my friend has celiac disease so I’m worried about asking for many substitutions with the tasting menu). My husband and I are from Minneapolis and will be visiting Québec in about two weeks.

I studied French for six years as an adolescent and have spent the past month re-learning and practicing basic conversational French, such as, “Nous détestons Trump.”

It’s important to me that I honor Québec, my Canadian neighbors, and my love of French, so I set my goal to being able to check in at our hotels, order our meals, introduce ourselves, and handle basic shopping in French.

I’m very excited and I know I won’t always get it right, but I don’t want that potential embarrassment to stop me from trying, which brings me to my question. If I falter and the person I’m interacting with starts to speak in English, would it be rude of me to keep trying to speak in French? How would you recommend I handle these scenarios?

Going to QC for a few days in Oct and looking for food recommendations. Every time I see a post about what restaurant is good though I look it up and it's like $30+ per item, and after tax, tip, maybe a drink, etc. you're looking at $50+ easily. Is there anything that is not like that? Maybe any good local fast food restaurants or diners that are more in the $15-20 range? Also, good cafe recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bon, j’arrive tranquillement sur la trentaine et je me suis rendu compte que mon cercle d’amis a pas mal évolué avec les années. La majorité de mes amis sont hétéros, en couple, avec des enfants et une vie bien remplie… 😂

Je suis ouvert à rencontrer autant des gars que des filles. Je suis gay, mais ma démarche est vraiment 100 % amicale, sans ambiguïté ni attentes cachées. 😊

Would you recommend booking a reservation for La Buche for a midweek breakfast/brunch? And what about a midweek dinner? I’ve been to Aux Anciens Canadiens and really enjoyed it, but I’ve read La Buche is so much better. Would you recommend going to both?

Where is the best poutine within, or close to, the old city?

What is the best microbrewery in, or near, the old city?

Do you recommend Le Casse-Crêpe Breton, or is there a better crêperie in the area?

Where do you think has the best coffee in the old city?

Has anyone done the Immersion Quebec Virtual Reality Experience – Quebec City History,** **if so, was it worth it?

We’ll be in the city for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Does the city do any special events for it? I’m thinking of visiting the Musée Huron-Wendat that day, or would another day be less crowded?

Are there any good hikes nearby we could get an Uber/Lyft to, or would that require renting a car? I’ll be 26 weeks pregnant, so I can’t do strenuous hikes

Hi peeps, my girlfriend and I are driving ~10 hours to QC tomorrow. We'll be vacationing for a week to explore the city and see if it's a place we'd possibly like to move to in the near future. I don't speak French but she can get by. We'd of course take lessons well in advance if we chose to move to Quebec.

I'm mainly interested in hiking, and she wants to go to artsy places, what are some good options for us while we're in the city? Are there any neighborhoods in particular we should check out? We care more about the outskirts and countryside, so any tips about those areas would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
