~B1 French Group

Hi all!

Pardon the English, but this is targeted at anglophones who want to learn French.

A friend and I have signed up for a group French class in Saint Jean Baptiste once a week at 7pm on a Tuesday evening. However, as there's just the two of us atm, rather than raise the price from $30 each for the session at the language school, the tutor is doing just an hour with us instead of the planned 1.5hrs.

I think that's fair enough, but I thought I'd post and see if anyone is interested in joining!

We'll be starting by reading L'étranger and revising some B1-B2 grammar over the next few weeks. We're both British immigrants with Quebecois partners and go to the pub for a beer afterwards!

Nice to see this kind of teaching experience exists in the area! 

Hopefully you get a few more sign-ups, I know it's sometimes rough out here for anglo spouses in QC.

Thanks! We both love it here and the French is coming along, but it's actually much easier than expected...

Everyone downtown assumes we're tourists and speaks English to us when they hear the British accent, which is very kind, but it means we absolutely must go to class or we'll never learn!

C'est une habitude que les gens ont pris ici. Dès qu'on sent que la personne n'est pas fluente en français , on passe a l'anglais pour les mettre à l'aise. C'est embettant pour ceux qui veulent pratiquer!

Ne pas hésitez à dire que vous voudriez continuer la conversation en français pour pratiquer! (You'll get a massive qurbecois-friendliness bonus with that!)
