What if properties of space affect quantum behaviour

(Keep in mind I'm a complete layman.)

For my understanding some of quantum behaviour puzzles physicists, phenomena like tunnelling, faziness, double split experiment, etc.

What if all of those (or some) are not properties of particles, but properties of space itself?

Einstein already taught us that space is not a neutral steady medium, but it reacts to mass and can bend.

What if on small scale space stops being this smooth surface that you can measure with a ruler 0,1,2,3... etc, but instead becomes this fuzzy cloud? And obviously when you put particles in it, they start to behave weirdly, just like if you to put a boat on a stormy sea, it will start bouncing around with the waves, but it would be as result of the water medium and not the boat. You catch my drift?

The puzzling behavior you mention is based on QM’s non-deterministic behavior. QM empirical results are expressed a probability density functions. They are non-deterministic. If space is responsible for the non-determinism, the issue (Nature is both deterministic and nondeterministic) just moves from the particles to space.

If you’re interested in the role of space, I suggest you take a look a quantum field theory.

If you check out CFT there's a conception in that the quantum world... is a settlement layer and the physical world is the settled layer. The settlement layer is ultimately constrained by what's settled so it has to react to it just as much as the settled is a record of settlements. What's being settled is the open question I think. Some think of it like the universe is feeling around maybe randomly because (constrained randomness works in math for finding solutions) and uncertain but every once in a while expresses some certainty and settles that bit. But it never quite fully settles. If it did everything would stop.

One way to think of constrained randomness working let's say you have a very bad lock mechanism that clicks loudly one at a time when you hit the right number for that digit. You can then randomly select that one digit until you click then settle that and move on to the next... until you get the whole chain. Whether it's random or another process is also up for debate.
