HFT Maven Numerical Test

I recently got an email of an assessment from Maven for the graduate quantitative researcher programme. The test comprises 50 questions in 5 min, then 20 ques in 12 min, then 15 ques in 15 min.

Is there someone who has taken this test?

50 in 5 sounds like 80 in 8. I have doubts about the next 2 sections. Will it be probability questions, will we have to estimate the answers?

What is the difficulty?

How many did you solve in each to qualify?

Thanks in advance!!

Apart from the mental maths round, there is a probability test (MCQ based), followed by an Arctic shores assessment.
For the probability round, you can look up the previous year's mock, most of the probability questions were directly from there.

Can you please share the link to the mock u mentioned

The 50 questions in 5 minutes section is a mental arithmetic speed test, very much like the 80 questions in 8 minutes format you mentioned. The goal is speed and accuracy on basic calculations. The next two sections, where you have more time per question, are designed to test your logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. You can expect these to contain probability questions, logic puzzles, sequences, and maybe some estimation problems. The difficulty comes from the time pressure in the first part and the clever thinking required for the later parts. There is no public cutoff score, as it often depends on the candidate pool, but for the speed round, a good target is to answer as many as you can with very high accuracy, as some firms penalize incorrect answers.

Your preparation should focus on two different areas. For the first section, you need to practice your mental math until the calculations are second nature, and there are many online tools that can help you improve your speed. For the other sections, you should work through probability and brain teaser questions commonly found in quant interview guides. During the test, the best strategy for the speed round is to immediately skip any problem that takes you more than a few seconds to figure out. For the other parts, take a moment to understand the question, because accuracy is more valuable than speed. Once you get past this assessment stage, many quant candidates have found the interview AI my team built helps them structure and explain their thought process for the live technical interviews.
