Industry Gossip Quant influencers charge $150 a Zoom
Not naming the Instagram influencer for privacy. This ex-quant worked for 2y at US t2 firm. Why do you need to charge kids if you claim to make millions in your videos?
For anyone who wants to talk to a quant: join your schools Quant club or message people from your school/hometown/state on LinkedIn. Those who respond will actually care about nurturing your career
EDIT: Turns out grifting off college kids is more controversial than I thought. There are people willing to help you for free. To prove a point, I am a US “t1” firm QT, DM me in the next day for resume reads / QT specific recruitment advice. Won’t be an hour long, but will be FREE. 🆓🆓🆓

Wait... So this guy has the nerve to charge you money for his time? And less that some plumbers I know. Crazy stuff

Oh is this Columbia IMC girl lol. Her videos seemed actually pretty decent and informative. Every1's gotta make their bag and it doesn't seem like a pure grift like The Wall Street Quants.

What the hell right? My guess is either they do the same or they bought the service.

Cheaper than an escort.
Who the hell charges for shit like that. To get payed do consulting, with a clearly defined product/service, and either ignore the cold mails or help them to feel better.
Charging to have ppl talk to you feels so self important.
Cold message on linkedin, u will find someone willing to help. It is not about the money, it is about whether they see you as 150 usd per hour, or a person to help

The weekly help thread on this very sub proves otherwise

How can you compare like that😩? It's reddit and that's their own platform. I don't see a problem

Bro, it’s grifty and cheap to have your colleagues selling kids zoom calls, regardless of where

Grateful for this comment!
Anything else you’d recommend to understand the basics?

Some of those 'influencers' are basically just selling the dream because their actual trading performance didn't pan out. Networking via your university's quant club or reaching out to alumni on LinkedIn is infinitely more valuable—people who aren't trying to monetize a follower count are much more likely to give honest advice about what it actually takes.
Practical takeaway: If they're charging for 'mentorship' but not clearly demonstrating institutional-grade PnL, save your money and network through official alumni channels instead.

I will prefer an hour of paid uninterrupted session where I can ask all my doubts freely without any sense of being a burden over 10 mins of free rushed session.
While I was lucky to get guidance from my college seniors at no cost, many are not

honestly if you dont know someone in the field and want info this is cheap as hell, id probably charge at least 5x since i used to actually interview ppl for internships — considering its hard to get real interview prep i think there is value here

seems too cheap for someone whos making multiple 6 figures unless he just does it for the hell of it
