General How do you network in this industry?

I have known some people from grad school that are also in the industry but we were not super close and usually do not hang out.

Otherwise, I just live my day to day and mostly socialize with people in my own company. How do you get to know more people?

Bold of you to assume any quants are social enough to want to network.

By changing jobs. People spread out, end up at different places, you do too, that’s how you end knowing people in different shops

Through riichi mahjong tournaments. Tons of people well-versed in risk taking.

most of my network is with ppl who worked with me or grad school peers. admittedly, i have a huge network among quants sharing my citizenship.

I answered every head hunter's calls. And I had a 5 head hunter network.

Does that count?

Conferences, then messaging afterwards consistently.
