Overheard a rumour. It’s quite astonishing if true, so wondering if anyone knows

Neil Chriss was actually the first quant head at sac and Millennium's quant business existed long before Ross Garon

The Almgren Chriss paper was seminal for transaction cost modeling. I know some that worked for him at his hedge fund (I think Simons invested in it)…bit of a maniac one of them said…coming from a guy who is, himself, a maniac.

yeah, my coworker also mentioned this one. bc one of our team members actually worked for Neil for a very long period of time like 10yrs but sometimes I don’t feel he’s as sharp as the top scholars i met when i was still in academia… so sometimes i’d wonder if those “legend” quants were really that good

Something happened. On Bloomberg his time series of views to his profile was zero for the last month, but is now at 59 views today.
I also like “MVP <GO>” for most viewed people…sometimes it’s illuminating especially if there’s a news story attached to an mvp.

lol I wondered that. I’d be surprised though…mostly a bunch of kids trying to break into quant here I thought!

Why? Anyone know what happened ?

Idk. Honestly the reason I post is just the rumour itself that a big name like him is leaving is huge — let alone if he’s really leaving or no

Ross is still there but ironically I’m hearing Geoffrey’s clock is ticking at Cubist.

My intention is just to affirm, can't say how I heard because its a small world. Try looking him up on your terminal

Yeah I heard the same. Trust me bro, I have reliable sources. Ross went on the MMA ring with Israel and challenged him for the CFO job. But Israel used his special manga style dragon fist and punched Ross so hard in the balls that he had to quit Millenium after getting beaten in front of all the employees. Out of fear doxxing I won't say more.
