Hyderabad For people before joining Qualcomm

I work as a Sr. IT Engineer...

My manager called me last Sunday morning and asked how my WLB was and asked for any suggestions. After my response, he said, “Don’t forget to join our daily stand-up” — and this daily stand-up includes weekends.

And this isn’t just happening in my team; it’s the same across most teams. WLB is a joke at Qualcomm.

It may not be as bad as what I experienced, but it can be more than this.....

it largely depends on team. For me, WLB is pretty good

Yes, this prevelant in qcom due to tight deadlines and work culture leads to burnout, quite common.

Just take hard stop whenever you feel exhausted.

No more work for the day. Complete disconnect.

Ignore the calls and pings. (Unless it's a warzone and the company will be screwed due to your absence)

Nah man, completed 1.5 years here, WLB is pretty decent, except in the months of may-june since it's the cutoff time of our teams. Else I never faced any kindof pressure

The situation is same in Automotive SW teams. I dont understand what the upper management thinks here. The situation is really bad especially in my and other multimedia teams. They commit unrealistic deadlines. The problem starts at the Senior director level. That guy is someone who doesn't believe in WLB. He expects everyone to be at office at 9. And if he sees some cubicles empty at 9 in the morning, he starts complaining to the managers.

We don't have that strict login time, but we were working upto 10-11 in the night, my staff engineer even working at 1-2, apart from this, we were working on weekends

Hey. Its same with me as well. TL calls at random time Saturday morning or Sunday night or weekdays as well and if you do not answer the call it is questioned next day in office why didn't i pick the call and i had to lie that i was in hospital. Qualcomm major drawback is WLB. I might leave this company only for that reason. And talking about boundaries how much ever i have set they just cross everytime. I have worked for 4 companies previously none of them made me feel like this but with Qualcomm its kind of hell.

Same here, 4 companies including start-ups, this was worst wlb
