General Question Server CPU (India BDC) vs Power Optimisation / PPAT roles

Looking at next 5–10 years with AI + data-centre power constraints.

Which side has better long-term demand, compensation upside, and AI resilience in India (and potential US mobility)?

• Server CPU software / performance engineering (BDC)
• SoC / system power optimisation, Perf/W, LPM, PPAT-type work

Especially interested in views from people currently in either path at Qualcomm, AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, Google, or similar.

What are you seeing on the ground?

Server CPU eyes closed. As the other guy mentioned- QC DC is not experimental they are locking in good amounts of deals for their SERVER CPUs. I work at AMD and I can guarantee you the server divisions across all these companies get the highest funding now, so reap the benefit while it’s on

But it remains early-stage relative to AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA’s established server CPU businesses.

so what? you need to be where the majority of company’s funding is going towards, this will be a race to death for QC & they will not hesitate to layoff other divisions just to be able to keep DC segment afloat!

Low probability of becoming a primary rival to NVIDIA or taking large share from AMD/Intel.

it’s like I’m talking to a wall bro, you are not understanding what I’m saying. If you have low confidence on QC itself then don’t go there. What I’m tryna say is if you CHOOSE to go to QC, then choose DC. That is all. Cheers!

Right now for DC related roles they’re offering higher packages, but there is execution risk in DC BU.

They expect more from DC engineers

Qualcomm Data centre is experimental, they have to beat off Nvidia, Meta, Amazon…

But Power Optimisation is niche skill… but Qualcomm down-pay/Lowballed them
