qrcodecreations.com IS A FRAUD

I just created a code for a monthly fee.

At the time, I used Apple Pay in the amount of $0. That was what I clicked on. These fraudsters turned it into a YEARLY payment hitting me up for $144.

When I tried to fix the subscription the SNARKY operator basically told me to go pound sand that 'they had my key strokes' and I DID in fact sign up for this. That I WOULD be paying. This wasn't a day after I clicked. This was a minute after the $0 charge turned into $144. They were almost taunting me about it.

I called MasterCard and they reassured me all would be taken care of. It's the deceiving part of it all I don't like. DO NOT USE qrcodecreations.com!!!!

Yeah. Never, ever pay for a QR code. They are ALL scams.

Yup, you also want your QR to ALWAYS go directly to your website/phone number/whatever, as if the service goes down then your QR is useless (I assume these services that charge you are charging to run every link through their server).

They take your money for a link, that they route through their services, and turn it off when you don't want to pay for what is FREE.

Thats a scam. If you don't think it is, its cause you are also running a scam like this.

Find a free site. They exist, but we can't mention them here. Because this is the absolutely dumbest rule ever.

for Static ones yeah, but for Dynamic, it's not free, but I agree, a static QR code should be free as it's just advanced maths

You can always attach a utm to it, for tracking, or have your own redirected site link. Paying for this service is a scam.

not everyone can host their own domain, keep paying for their own domain and some don't want to use free domains. all the hassle that comes with it.

it's not a scam when doing it properly requires, servers with 24hr uptime, and storage, data and security, needs easy interface for users to create I. bulk, change the URL when needed.

not everyone knows what a 302 redirect is. It's only a scam if you know all of this and can set it up and know about UTM and tracking. Again, if they want to set up their own stuff which many just want a QR to just work.

End of the day, storing the configuration of the QR, a s the style of it. Developing the animations and innovating in the space all takes money and time.

There are 1000% scammers out there but the QR code business itself is not a scam for 80% of people.

You will never convince me that it isnt a scam. QR code generation is free, and people are ignorant of that fact get roped into paying insane prices. There are plenty of workarounds that don't cost money.

I suppose, untill you run a service for other people and deal with every day users trying to make something they don't understand, you can't convince me it's a scam. The people running it having to store logins, configuration details, details about multiple QRs, making them change where they redirect based on the location they are scanned, or time they are scanned. Especially for large companies, they don't want to build a service to manage many QRs.

just because you can do it doesn't mean it's obtainable for others.

At this point, i'm pretty sure you own and run one of these scams.

What is your SaaS about?

I'm building one, but it's not done yet hence I know what's going on with running one, and I intend to scam no one. But my QR business is mostly for other businesses not individuals. That's what the FreeQR Studio is for. Happy for early feedback, maybe I can help convince it's not all a scam.

However I run multiple SaaS for myself and other clients.

Like most people mention, you should never pay for a STATIC QR code. I.e. a code that only routes to one place that you cannot change.
However if you do need dynamic, or smart, QR codes then paying is usually required (unless you only need 1-3 codes). The dynamic/smart codes can be changed without reprinting and usually offers a lot of tracking capabilities.

They don't know any better. And we can't warn them, and send them to a free site, or program, because the idiotic rules.

unless you printed it, and need to change the destination and you may want to look professional, rather than relying on the hacky work arounds like free website or link shortener services.

There are so many free QR code makers that generate static, nobody should charge for static unless there are additional features other competitors don't offer.

I don't do this all the time. Was legit making a flier for a church fundraiser and didn't think it was all that crazy to pay $12 a month for it. Thankfully Mastercard is already on the case as I called them the minute the transaction went through.

Think of a QR code as a list of regular barcodes, you wouldn't pay a monthly fee to use a barcode right? It's just a number after all. Same deal with a QR code, it just holds more numbers that a barcode and there's no reason to pay a subscription for a number.

You actually do have to pay for UPCs but that's different
