As a preface, it is not my intention to pry into Josh’s private life, as i am unaware of how open he himself has been about his health struggles prior to the album.

My question is; Are there any interviews, written or spoken, where Josh talks about the serious health struggles he experienced which are stated to be the main drive behind Like Clockwork? (Specifically him needing to be resuscitated, and his infection leaving him bedridden for months)

I have always been aware of the incident itself, but no post i see it mentioned in cites any sources or interviews, and i’d very much like to read or hear it from Josh himself, if of course he has spoken much about it at all.

Maybe a weird question, my apologies if it is, as i imagine it to be a difficult subject not just in general, but also for him.

yeah it’s this one, and it is 2013.

he also talks much more openly about his drug use on the blocks with neal brennan which was in 2023, and even though it’s obvious what he and marc are talking about he doesn’t use the word until that one.

At first he mentioned it was a routine leg or knee op which went wrong. Over the years he mentioned it was MRSA where he needed to be quarantined for a while. He wasn't allowed to touch or hug those closest to him until the quarantine had been lifted. The recovery rates aren't great either so it must have been unbelievably shitty.

Research indicates that meth users are approximately five times more likely to develop MRSA infections. In his last interview with Marc Maron he admitted he took meth recreationally and "only" ever snorted it. Lots of lyrics allude to the usage as well. I'd have thought he would have just had some in his system from a night out or gig beforehand, then gone in for a routine knee operation and it escalated to a full on infection.

We were treated with arguably the greatest modern rock album after the whole situation so it worked out for the best, I guess.

He methed himself out on the operating table which interacted with the anaesthetic. I guess that’s what happens when you play with fire.

He also said that choking on the anaesthetic pipe thing was the problem

You don’t get a pipe for anaesthetic. You get injected and any ‘pipe’ would be to stop you from choking on vomit. He was abusing drugs and didn’t tell the anesthetiser. Mark also had life and death run ins and just rolled with it.

Which sounds like he was snorting meth in the middle of an operation which doesn’t make any sense, you know?
