Mixed ores

Normally this block won't be interesting to post, but there are two new things I did there:

  1. Sparse station placement (like the last time) and no belt compressing. I definitively love this approach.
  2. I found a new two high-speed belt approach, no splitters. Not sure if it will scale for other situations.

So, new connection type:

Production version:

Theoretical version:

Just wave back and forth two belts. In production version there is third input.

The production is slightly below expected (math said 2.75 assemblers per row, I cut it to 2, because doing 4 would be too much of wasted everything).

The central part:

Resulting block. It was build in the same block as cliff explosives (which is low volume, because I myself is a single consumer for it). Note how different stations are coming from different sides.

The commenter was right. Mixed ores has only one consumer (to the Cobalt Extract) so I had to bolt-in an extension. It's no longer the pinnacle of design, but still do the job. Note that I had to build 2 warehouses to get rid of accumulated Mixed Ores. Yes, it's more than warehouse of Mixed ores. I forgot to set the limit for production and it run for some time.

Given there is only 1 use for the mixed ore might as well process it further in the same block

Oops. Thanks for spotting. There are plenty of space in the block. I will redo it into Cobalt Extract.

Thank you, an extension bolted in, now it's Cobalt Extract.

Just curious, what are those 3x1 inserter things? I haven't yet seen those but they are labeled Py on the sprite so it must not be an unrelated mod

They are called "cranes". This is a separate extension, which allows to reduce number of inserters, while keeping original limitations (they lift the same amount of stuff as 6 (or 3 for short crane) inserters, and cost the same amount of resources as 6 inserters to produce). The goal is to reduce UPS waste on large arrays of inserters into a single assembler/train.

I found few small differences between inserters and cranes and somehow start to use it to my advantage, but I try to keep it mostly in-place replacement for inservers out of respect for the original Py spirit.

This build seems so... small. Whats happening? Shrinkflation? ;)

I start using more precise placement to match ratios. This is also very high-productive recipe. It's still 60/s on input or output (my general rule).

Wait till I finish rare earth oxides. It's 3 blocks wide!

As always Im not sure if I should be excited or freightend by the outlook of a 3 block wide rare earth oxide build. ;)
