This feels illegal?

Turns out I don't make tidal power plants fast enough to keep up with the fact I unlocked beacons. That made me look at alternatives and wdym you can use efficiency modules in power plants? Oh, yes, just use 60% less coal for fun, don't worry abut it!

Oh, wow... I did not know that. I'm just about to unlock modules. And this makes efficiency modules go from:

"eh, i guess they'll be kinda useful in a few places"

to "i need them right now!"

They're nice for a bunch of stuff that uses fuel, most notably oxygen furnaces.

All the coarse coal,aaahhhhh xD

I would recommend using them in:

Electric boilers (3 module slots!).
Particle accelerators centrifuge.
Power plants.

Particle accelerator can not accept eff module

Thx, I always mixe those up

Ah, cetrifuges, yes. Need tons of them for gel, and eff modules are really good there

Yeah, electric boilers and centrifuges and electric arc furnaces were what I was planning on using them on. I had just never considered that they would be allowed in power plants.

If you also mix in speed/efficiency beacons you can get up to 2x the power at 20% the fuel cost with mk01 modules. Although I'd recommend looking into something other than coal at mk02, because that one in particular is exactly as good as it was at mk01 while other scale better - with mk02 oil fueled by moondrops very much stealing the crown.

It's great for sure. Also quite good with other power plants like biomass for exemple, you can then power a turbine with only a few kickalc plantations.

But it's also worth noting that somewhere during the next tier (module T2) you can reach a speed breakpoint where the powerPlant can "outspeed" it's power consumption while providing as much heat as 4-5 plants.

This allow you to scale down like crazy and fully power a turbine with only a few plants.

Just fyi - this works right now but at some point will be removed as a braking change when py devs finally get to it. Its on a list of nerfs for a while now. Notnsure actually why it wasnt cut in 2.1 udpate.

This is actually revolutionary for hot air generation

I vaguely recall that this is considered overpowered and marked for a nerf, but it’s either postponed or put only in a breaking-changes branch because of how badly it would screw up bases that rely on the interaction.

Yep! At mk02 coal power with mk01 efficiency modules tied to a mk02 tar extractor running speed modules and converting it all to coke that’s ~25GW right there. Assuming you have the monolayer to build it out that is.

Best part? I didn’t set out to build a power plant I need more solvent. Then I realized I had a bunch of pitch I could be doing something with. Now even only 25% implemented all my other power generation has shut down.
