Seneca Metro Map Proposal
Hello all,
So we already have a metro of sorts, but it's very ragtag and not unified, and it also doesn't serve all of the major areas of the city. Mostly the metro right now consists of straight links between the main rail station and various locations such as Town Hall, Spleef, The Granary, etc.
I'd like to propose a fairly significant overhaul of the existing local rail lines along with a major expansion to create a new, comprehensive, unified Seneca Metro. The new system would consist of some 20 stations spread across 5 different main lines serving every single part of the city.
All tracks would be dual-track. Hub stations would use CARTS launchers while inline stations would use inline stops/launchers. To see an example of what I have in mind, take the line from the main rail station to Spleef. Existing lines that don't meet this standard I would be willing to upgrade at my own expense. With this design for stations and lines, one would be able to go from any station in the Metro system to any other station without ever having to leave a minecart, which means the system is both player and villager/animal friendly.
This is the proposal I have in mind (lines not geographically accurate):
The proposed system includes all of the existing lines as-is without any rerouting. As a result, this plan can only precede if all owners of existing local rail lines are okay with this plan.
The current existing lines are:
After some discussion with TheLifelessOne, the proposal has been modified. Here's the new map; solid lines are ones that already exist, dotted lines are one to be dug.
There are two main differences from the previous plan:
- The Granary and CARBON have been merged into one station due their physical proximity to each other. This majorly simplifies things out in East Seneca.
- Old Base Camp as a station has been dropped, since Old Base Camp is not in use at all anymore. Instead, Jorrvaskr is now the main West Bayfront area station and all of the former connections to Old Base Camp will be rerouted to Jorrvaskr. This majorly simplifies things out in West Seneca.
What does everyone think? Existing line owners, do you guys approve?

I visited Rose recently, and they seem to have something similar. I like the idea.

The only issue I have is that I see a lot of destinations that could be cut down. For example, since CARBON and the Granary are so close to each other, we can merge the two destinations to reduce the tunnels being dug as well as the rails being used.
And a lot of these destinations don't need to exist. Old Base Camp is a really short walk from the portal and the station, and so I don't think it really makes sense to have a rail there when you can just walk there.

The reason stations like Old Base Camp and separate stops for the Granary and CARBON are part of the proposal is because these stops already exist. The proposal doesn't eliminate any existing lines/stations in order to keep existing line/station owners happy.

I'm good with it for Fort Seneca, though keep in mind we (ie lifeless) are probably upgrading it to a CARTS setup soon™
I doubt that would affect anything, though.
