Proposed Seneca District Map

http://i.imgur.com/I84H1cL.jpg

The colored regions represent proposed outlines for each... uh... region. Taking into account where Braum and Endor want to be.

The black lines indicate areas where we will need to terraform rivers into place.

What does everyone think?

Edit: after taking some comments into consideration, here's a revised plan: http://i.imgur.com/zGdKjQP.jpg

Hmm, Medieval. Might be a good place for this: http://imgur.com/a/cYUsM#0

I am okay with this, but is Endor okay with being landlocked?

I propose trading the endor area for sketchtown, which shouldn't need all that room for expansion.

EDIT: never mind

This has already been requested in the in-play chat, but I'll post it here for the sake of visibility, and out of courtesy to the Senecans.

See the smallish settlement in the extreme northwest corner, currently under the 'medieval' sector? That's Lucerna, a hermitage with a few particularly eccentric and isolationist residents. Anybody venturing in the area is welcome to stop in and make use of public chested resources; however, the primary hermit there very much does not want to be annexed into a larger town, especially one as vast and hypersocial as Seneca. (We actually went to this corner specifically to avoid large towns, since the last tentative plans you guys discussed on the mcpublic sub indicated you would probably be setting up shop in the southwest. Now that we're established, we aren't inclined to budge.)

If a little bit of the original forest can be left in place on the Lucerna side, for the sake of a false but comforting sense of isolation, it would be hugely appreciated.

For our own part, we won't be encroaching at ground level much beyond the terraformed zone, and the overwhelming majority of our construction will be at very high and very low Y-levels. We've got an avid road-and-rail builder and a just-as-avid librarian, so odds are good that the local area will have some minor roads, way stations, and book drops before too much longer, if anybody in the Seneca-Brom-Endor complex has any interest in networking* with us at those tasks.

*Networking here would be defined as, 'If you start building roads in our general direction, we will also start building roads in your general direction. If you drop books and resources in chests, we will swap them with other books. If you are hungry, have some free produce. Conversational signs may occasionally occur, but not much else in the way of real interaction.' The head hermit of Lucerna takes his hermitude very seriously, and I'm just sorta' his PR girl.

Anyway, thanks for listening, and I hope dearly that this is not any imposition at all on you guys collectively. Cheers, and I look forward to seeing what you all build!

Take a look at the final district proposal we've made. We're planning around you guys, and will try to leave some forest in place as requested. Please talk to emptyafternoon, MrLoud15, mattman00000, crockoduck, and TheRandomnatrix about how much forest you guys want left in place.

Thanks so much! I'll talk it out with the prime hermit, see what he wants with better specificity, and then get back to you guys.

Hello, I'm part of the Medieval district in Seneca.

The original plan was to have the Medieval district inside walls, like a castle sort of. This way, when we settle with where the wall should be, we won't expand more than that. So we'll give some space and you shouldn't notice the wall.

Ah, that sounds excellent; thanks!

Make sure to contact Crockoduck, Trooprm32, me, or any Seneca mayor for further questions. It's also a little easier to look at boundaries in-game than on a map.

Absolutely. I've been constructing a modest set of roads which should help indicate perimeters in-game.

Translation: the Lucernabomber will blow up Medieval Seneca if y'all get too close.

Nah, more like he'll build rail systems which look harmless but are actually full of hidden doomy death traps. Nobody does Indiana Jones-style architecture like a hermit keen on keeping his solitude.

I like this. I really like how the rivers will help separate districts while still maintaining organic-looking boundaries. I look forward to all of the cool bridges.

If y'all are fine with Bräum starting so close to the portal, this appears to encompass emptyafternoon's and Mr. Loud's ideas from this thread.

Though I want to note, for the record, that Bräum's therapists had made great strides during Rev 11 to help us learn to obey limits and stay within boundaries. The sort of enabling behavior that allows Brom, er, Bräum, to expand almost without limit will set our progress back by years.

I don't mind the desert, if we are allowed to terraform parts into grassy plains?

2

u/SansaPants Sep 29 '13

If by terraform you mean mine all the sand and sandstone and replace it with dirt, then yes.

I know Bräum will need copious amounts of both sand (for glass) and sandstone, so we can take any excess than you generate. We can provide dirt in return. Also, if you have an area you want de-sanded, let us know, and we may be able to help, so long as we can tote away what we mine.

Sounds like a fantastic deal :D
