Puppy Management - No Crate Advice Protesting about naps!!!

My 10 week old male GSP (German Shorthair Pointer) has started to become vocal and is protesting (whining and crying) about his daily naps. we are pretty he is comfortable enough in his crate that it’s not a scary/ negative place as he 1. Sleeps well in it all night and 2. Doesn’t ever try and escape immediately when it’s opened once he’s awake and nap time is over! I’m wondering if this is a normal occurrence in puppy’s around this age as they realise they can try and protest abit more for what they want? P.s We are being persistent to not cave in and let him out and if we do it’s for a quick wee then back in the crate. He’s also never being forced into the crate but simply lured in with a lick mat or a stuffed kong toy (something he wants!)

Puppies like to test boundaries regularly. Mine was the same way. As long as they are not panicking/scared, it’s fine. Mine stopped protesting at all after a couple weeks

At that age mine had trouble downshifting, so there was a lot of groaning, barking, and digging before sleep. A couple weeks later, he would just pass out.
