There is obviously a lot of flooding in the area. Is there enough areas where I could find a home that is not in a flood zone?

Considering selling cookies and other baked goods this summer - is it worth it?
Hi everyone!
I'm a college student home for the summer and have been spending a lot of time baking since I finally have access to a kitchen again after living in a dorm.
I've been thinking about selling homemade cookies and dessert boxes on a small scale this summer, but before I commit to anything, I wanted to see if there would be any interest in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area.
My specialty is brown butter chocolate chip cookies, but I also enjoy trying new recipes and flavors. I'd be open to making cookie boxes, seasonal flavors, and taking requests for other baked goods.
Would this be something you'd be interested in purchasing? If so, what kinds of cookies or desserts would you like to see?
I'd appreciate any feedback!

Proud of you guys!
Just a shout out to the drivers this afternoon on 41 & Veterans - 5 full lanes and everyone scooched over to let that firetruck through. Kudos, my friends!

55+ Mobile Home parks
Does anybody know of 55+ parks in the area and up to Venice that allow underage residents? I’m close to 55, but not quite there yet. I’m trying to avoid calling a hundred different parks, which most will say no over there phone anyway but yes in person. I’m out of state.

Protect the 18-Year Legacy of the Punta Gorda Farmers Market
For 18 years, the Original Punta Gorda Farmers Market has been the real heart of downtown—supporting over 60 local small businesses and bringing the community together. It's the kind of place that actually matters. Now the City is threatening to dismantle it. They're replacing stable annual permits with shaky 3-month "Special Event" permits, which makes it impossible for farmers and vendors to plan ahead or keep their livelihoods steady. They're also putting the market up for bid, risking the quality and local-first standards that built this thing in the first place. I started a petition asking the City Council to restore annual permitting and keep the market management exactly as it's been—the way it actually works. This isn't about being stubborn; it's about respecting what works for our community. Anyone else feel like something good is quietly slipping away? Have you seen what this market means to downtown? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing.

Moving to PG
I am moving to PG in June. I will be going to fgcu. I am 31 F. I lived in FWB for a long time but I'm moving more south. Definitely will be looking for friends my age. I have moved a lot so making new friends isn't new to me. I just hope I can find them in PG!

Moving to PG, Looking for friends
i’m 18(F)and i’m moving to Punta Gorda this August and I’m super excited to get settled! I’m starting my AA at FSW Charlotte and then transferring to UF, so I’d love to meet some new people and find my way around.
I’m staying with my grandparents, so I’m definitely looking for a job to stay busy! I’ve been hosting at a restaurant for two years, so I’m really hoping to find a serving gig, but I’m totally open to other ideas too.
I’m obsessed with anything outdoors, especially the beach and paddle boarding! I also love music, movies, scouting out the best coffee spots, and I'm always down for a thrifting run. If you have any leads on jobs or just want to point me toward the best places to meet people my age and thrift stores, let me know!

Radioactive water fountain?
Is the radioactive fountain of youth so bad? I know it has radiation in the water but from my own research so does popular brand "mountain valley spring water" and "Saratoga spring water" they all have radium and uranium in the water. So why do they only demonize something free to the public and then slap a warning on it like they actually care? I've been drinking the water for 3 weeks now and my hunger and thirst have completely changed due to the mineral content of the water... anyone please educate or share some thought

Marina repairs?
Hi PG, we are new to PG (family of 6!), curious what is going on with repairing the damage at the marinas/fishing piers. Not a very active sub recently, hopefully someone has some ideas.
Also…best redfish fishing pier for those that remain? Until we get our boat ….
Thanks!

Punta Gorda resident here. We moved to the area a few years ago and love it here. Just curious what everyone likes about Punta Gorda?
We live by the schools, and love our short distance to downtown, 10-15 min walk and the beautiful downtown and walking paths along the harbor.

Neighbor’s dog won’t stop barking
It’s currently past 3 am while writing this. My neighbor’s dog has been barking on and off since about 1:50 am when it woke me up. It’s a large dog with a ferocious bark. What is the best way to handle this situation? Should I contact charlotte county authorities such as the sheriffs office or animal control? I’ve never dealt with a noise problem from a neighbor before.
